How to Find Scanner Distortions in Starfield

In Starfield, the Scanner is a vital tool for exploring planets and detecting anomalies. Sometimes, you'll need to follow distortions on the scanner to locate anomalies on different planets. While this might sound complex, our guide will help simplify the process for you.

Starfield has been highly anticipated, offering gamers the chance to embark on epic space adventures and discover new worlds. Unlike Bethesda's previous fantasy and post-apocalyptic games like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, Starfield is set in a carefully crafted sci-fi universe where players travel to uncharted planets and navigate the cosmos. The Scanner is a crucial device you'll need to master for planetary exploration.

Using the Scanner to Find Anomalies

Anomalies are often connected to planets related to the Constellation's Artifacts, a significant aspect of the game's early story. These anomalies are housed within Temples found on various planets throughout the universe.

Your Scanner is your best tool for locating these anomalies, as it displays distortions when you're close to one. To follow a distortion on the scanner and locate an anomaly on a planet you've landed on, follow these steps:

  1. Press the LB button on your Xbox controller or the F key on your keyboard to activate the Scanner in the game.

  2. Your scanner becomes active when you see a white circle with a crosshair on your screen. Carefully move the scanner around you and observe if it glitches in a particular direction.

  3. If you notice red and blue glitches along the white circle of the scanner, along with distortion noises, move in the direction where the glitches intensify.

  4. Keep following the distortion signal until you spot the temple containing the anomaly.

  5. Upon reaching the temple, you can interact with the anomaly to gain special powers.

By following these steps, you'll master the art of locating anomalies in Starfield using the Scanner. Those who acquire these unique powers are known as Starborn in the game.
