This landmark event will mark Spain's debut as the host of an international VCT tournament, a significant achievement for a country that boasts its own Challengers League and is proudly home to three out of the ten organizations that compete in the VCT EMEA League (namely, Giants, KOI, and Team Heretics).

Scheduled to unfold in the spring season, VCT Masters Madrid will step onto the scene as the inaugural global VCT event of the 2024 season. In a recent announcement, Riot Games also disclosed Shanghai as another upcoming destination for a VCT Masters event, scheduled to unfold later during the same spring timeframe.

Emulating the structure of the 2021 and 2022 Valorant Champions Tour, the 2024 edition will encompass two Masters events and culminate in the World Championship. A notable alteration was seen in the 2023 season where the first Masters event was substituted with VCT LOCK//IN—a standalone tournament hosted in São Paulo, featuring 30 partner teams and two Chinese squads. This alteration was prompted by the season's single split of regional competition in each international league.

In the forthcoming year, Riot Games is set to introduce a fourth international league tailored for Chinese teams. The selection of the eight teams poised to compete at Masters Madrid will be determined via the Kickoff tournaments—a two-week competition hosted by each league, marking the onset of the 2024 season.

VCT Masters Madrid Kickoff and Dates

VCT Masters Madrid is slated to grace the stage sometime in March, presenting the finest teams from each of the four international leagues (Americas, EMEA, Asia-Pacific, and China). While the precise dates remain undisclosed, anticipation mounts for this Spanish spectacle.

This event heralds the triumphant return of global VCT competitions to the EMEA region, following a year in which international events took place in São Paulo, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.
