The AFK Journey designers released a [Talk with Designers] piece on their official media pages today in which they shared some major adjustments coming to the new version 1.1.17 on August 8, 2024, while also sharing highlights about the upcoming season, which is expected to launch this September 2024.

New Season Highlights
We are a month and something away from the new season, and the designers behind AFK Journey have already begun to tease us with what we can expect from this new experience.
Below you can discover what they have revealed so far.
New Events
The developers have mentioned that the new season will feature new events that will require strategic hero lineups and will offer abundant rewards.
Additionally, they are also planning on refining the currently existing modes, Arcane Labyrinth and Honor Duel, to increase their rewards.
Lastly, they teased a new feature, a fishing mode, which will be released with Version 1.1.17 on August 8, 2024.
Guild Features
Guilds are one of the social features of AFK Journey that let players tackle hard guild battles and compete with other Guilds to see which Guild has the strongest players on a server. Guilds have been an integral part of AFK Journey, and in the new season, the designers are looking to add a new Guild event and the highly anticipated Guild administration functions.
Cosmetics
Cosmetics are a way for players to transform their characters and make them unique. Some players may even argue that cosmetics are the endgame of a lot of games and are a badge of honor.
The developers behind AFK Journey realize this, and with the new season, they are planning on allowing players to change the color of their avatar and giving them the freedom to share diversified information on their profile page.

New Hero Abilities
The designers teased that they are planning on adding a new faction-based mechanic in the upcoming season.
This faction-based mechanic will allow players to give one or two of their heroes new abilities, which the developers say will greatly boost their strength in battle.
They are hoping this new mechanic will add a new layer to battle strategies and allow for more creativity. Additionally, they are planning on adjusting this mechanic for future seasons to keep players’ experiences fresh and engaging.
This mechanic is expected to be available in specific modes, such as Legend Trial.
Optimizations
Lastly, the designers mentioned that they are working on various optimizations that players have requested. Some of these include the following:
- less grinding
- preset formations
- dueling between friends
They also ask players for more feedback to help them develop the game further and make it enjoyable for everyone.
