Destiny 2 The Final Shape: How to Farm Memory Vestiges

Finding Vestiges of Light and Darkness can be difficult at first because Destiny 2 does not provide any guidance on how to obtain them, but we’re here to change that!

In Destiny 2: The Final Shape, both vestige types are relatively easy to locate. Complete the campaign and some of Micah-10's missions, and you'll be able to easily stock up on both Light and Dark vestiges, both of which are required to construct Memories of Light and Dark, which pinpoint the exact position of five Prismatic Fragment chests. Here is everything you need to know.

Memory Vestiges are items in Destiny 2: The Final Shape used to create Memories of Light or Darkness. These memories are then used to find specific Prismatic Fragment chests throughout the Pale Heart. Five Prismatic Fragments are locked behind Memory Vestiges, thus, it's crucial to collect them whenever feasible.

There are two types of vestiges:

  • Memory Vestige: Darkness, found in corrupted chests within the Pale Heart and are used to forge Memories of Darkness.
  • Memory Vestige: Light, found by defeating enemies within cyst caves, areas unlocked through Micah-10's "Alone in the Dark" quest chain. Used to forge Memories of Light.

Vestiges of Darkness are a prize in Destiny 2: The Final Shape for removing corrupted chests from the Pale Heart. While on patrol, look for pyramid chests covered in Darkness brambles. If you walk up to the chest and interact with it, a timed challenge will start. To cleanse the chest, finish the assignment within 90 seconds. Failure simply means you must restart the challenge.

Once you've completed the challenge, open the freshly cleansed chest to retrieve your Vestige of Darkness.

Vestiges of Light can be obtained by fighting opponents in cyst dungeons in the Pale Heart. To access these cyst locations, complete the "Alone in the Dark" missions from Micah-10 in the Lost City. If you do not have access to this mission, you must first finish the "Memories" series of quests, which become available after completing the Final Shape campaign.

Each cyst dungeon should provide five to seven Vestiges of Light, enough to make one Memory of Light with a few vestiges left over. Players report that in order to see any Vestiges of Light, you might need to clear the Aerial Ace Cyst in The Transgression. This area is accessible after completing the third variant of "Alone in the Dark."

Collecting five of the same vestige type will create a corresponding memory. This is done automatically, so you do not have to do anything extra. Like your vestiges, you can view any created memories in your inventory menu.

The Pale Heart contains five memories. Each memory will indicate a Prismatic chest on your map. Finding the chest will give you access to a new Prismatic Fragment. Once the chest is opened, memories are consumed. Opening the same chest will only result in some extra Ghost reputation.
