Diablo 4 Season 3 launched just over a week ago, and players were not satisfied with the new mechanics and content that were added to the game. While most of the new additions were par for the course in terms of a Diablo 4 season, the community was left disappointed with the seasonal theme centered around traps, while also calling the new Seneschal Construct ''boring'' and ''uninspired.'' A few days after the launch of the season, Blizzard released a patch that aimed to fix some of these issues while also providing a ton of quality-of-life updates.
Diablo 4's Patch 1.3.0a added a new resource called Igneous Cores, which is going to be one of the main ways to fight the new Uber Malphas boss fight in Season 3. In this article, we are going to explain how they work, as well as where you can farm more of them.

What are Igneous Cores in Diablo 4?
Igneous Cores are a late addition to Diablo 4 Season 3, only arriving with patch 1.3.0a. They are a resource that can only be used to open the Vault of the Loom dungeon, leading you to the Uber Malphas boss fight. Before the patch dropped, Pearls of Warding were used instead.
In order to start the Vault of the Loom dungeon, you are going to need 7 Igneous Cores and 250 Shattered Stones. Keep in mind that you are going to need this amount of resources for every attempt at clearing the dungeon, so we recommend teaming up with other players which will allow you to share the resources. Uber Malphas is an important boss to farm in Season 3, as he is the only source for the new Unique Tuning Stones, called Evernight and Genesis.

How to Get Igneous Cores in Diablo 4
If you are planning on farming Uber Malphas, then you are going to need to gather a ton of Igneous Cores throughout Season 3. There are only two ways of obtaining this resource at this time:
-
Herald of Malphas Elites: Igneous Cores have a chance to drop from any Herald of Malphas Elite you defeat. These Elites can be found by summoning them through the different Braziers you can find in the Arcane Tremor open-world events.
-
Son of Malphas Boss: Igneous Cores will always drop after defeating the Son of Malphas boss fight, which, similar to the Butcher, can randomly spawn and chase you while you are doing Vault dungeons in Season 3. There is also a small chance of him appearing during Arcane Tremor open-world events.
We recommend finding one of the Arcane Tremor events that also features Tree of Whisper quests, as many players will look to double-dip and complete both types of content. This will ensure that your current shard will be full of players, which can also summon some Herald of Malphas Elites.
That covers everything you need to know about the new resource introduced with patch 1.3.0a called Igneous Cores. This resource is only important if you are looking to farm Uber Malphas for one of the Unique Tuning Stones, but if you want to compete in the upcoming Gauntlet weekly dungeon, you will definitely want to get them.
