Diablo 4 Season Roadmap
Lead Class Designer Adam Jackson shared that Diablo 4 seasons are going to have an updated structure. There will be 2 notable updates during every season going forward, which are going to be one big patch during season launch, as well as smaller but still significant patch that will happen during the middle of the season. This structure is pretty similar to other Blizzard games, with World of Warcraft and Overwatch also splitting their seasons into two big updates.

Diablo 4 Season Launch
The first significant update in each season will, unsurprisingly, occur during its launch. This is when major changes will take place, including the addition of new Legendaries and Uniques, balance adjustments to classes, as well as general updates to existing systems. The roadmap indicates that every Diablo 4 season will aim to introduce a few new items for each class.
Dramatic class changes, such as buffs and nerfs, will accompany these updates. The Diablo 4 team notes that they will avoid sweeping nerfs, having learned from the experience in Season 1. Larger updates to systems will also be prominent, with the Resistance overhaul serving as an example.

Diablo 4 Mid-Season Patch
Regular mid-season updates are also going to be a regular occurrence in the future. These updates, while smaller in scope, are going to aim to provide some additional class balance changes, with very few, if any, nerfs happening, as this can heavily impact players who have invested a lot of time into their characters. Other things that will be included are regular bug fixes and system updates.
Some additional content could also be added during these updates, with an example being the inclusion of Malignant Rings late into Season 2, for some additional player options and build diversity later into the season.
