Diablo 4 Season 4: Best Barbarian Builds Tier List

If you are looking for a hit-and-run build that specializes in applying bleeds, then using Rend is what we recommend. This build scales really well into the late game and is one of the strongest single-target builds available to the Barbarian. It does lack some AoE capabilities, but those issues can be patched up with the new Tempering mechanic. Damage-over-time effect builds are also naturally more survivable, as you can just apply your dots and move around until they expire. This type of playstyle is not for everyone, but if you are one that enjoys it make sure to try Rend out in Season 4!

This build has the potential to be even stronger in Season 4, as there is a new Tempered Manual affix that can be applied to your weapon, significantly increasing the size of Rend. Depending on the size of this effect, it might push this build to a much higher tier.

The Whirlwind Barbarian is probably the most iconic build across the entire Diablo franchise. Whirlwind is a melee build that makes the Barbarian spin around him, destroying everything in the vicinity. Whirlwind specializes in clearing packs of monsters, providing really fast clear speed even in the higher tiers of the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons. The build does lack some single-target damage capabilities, but it's more than viable for taking down even some of the hardest bosses in the game.

The new Dust Devil version has made this build much stronger in Season 4, and it might end up as one of the best options in the game. Season 4 buffed flat damage effects, such as Earthquakes and Dust Devils by a significant amount, and since the Barbarian has access to them via the Devilish Aspect, you can scale this build to a ridiculous amount. Whirlwind also has even more support this patch, with the Tempering system having an affix that increases the size of the spin, making it much more effective in dungeons.

The last build in A Tier on our list is the iconic Hammer of the Ancients Barbarian. Hammer on the Ancients relies on some setup, by buffing yourself with Shouts and playing around different items and passives, but once everything lines up, you can one-shot just about everything in the game. This build has very few downsides other than the fact that it is heavily gear-dependent, requiring some of the rarest items in the game to reach its full potential. If you are looking for a strong endgame build that is capable of clearing all of the content in the game, Hammer of the Ancients remains one of the top choices for Season 4.

Furious Hammer of the Ancients was changed in Season 4 to increase your critical strike chance instead of giving you increased damage, which is a needed nerf but far from anything that will make it unplayable. There is also a new Tempering affix that can increase the size of Hammer of the Ancients, which will help with clearing packs of enemies.

The Bash build is one of the examples of how the new crafting systems in the game can create more diversity within the classes. With the new Tempering Manual affix adding a cleave to each one of your Bash hits, this skill went from getting no use to becoming one of the strongest ones in the game. There are so many ways to create a build around this skill, and one of the most popular ones for this season is going to be based around Dust Devils, very similar to the Whirlwind and Double Swing builds. The big negative of any of the Bash builds is that the entire premise is centered around the Tempering Manual affix, which is only available later in the game, so you are going to have to play something else before this build can come online. Nonetheless, once you reach the stage in which it functions correctly, you are going to be able to deal with all of the content in the game.

The final build on our list is another single-target powerhouse that, with the right amount of investment, can melt any Elite or Boss in the game in mere seconds. The Double Swing Barbarian is a melee build that smashes enemies close to you, ramping up in speed and damage until everything on your screen has vanished. The usual issue with this build would be the lack of AoE options, but with the recent damage buff of Dust Devils, as well as the support Blizzard has added to create builds around them, you can now make this build viable in any type of content in Diablo 4.

Most of the different Barbarian builds can now dip into these Dust Devils, which has made a lot of the options much stronger. This build benefits by far the most out of this change, as it was heavily focused on doing single-target damage and with very low investment you can now fix its biggest issue.
