Diablo 4 Season 4 is by far the biggest update since the release of the game, and some of the most highly-anticipated features and updates have finally arrived. With the new itemization rework making its debut, alongside many changes to the endgame, including the new Pit of Artificers endgame dungeon, updates to Helltides, and the new Uber Andariel boss fight, the entire gameplay loop changes once you reach level 100. Blizzard has also added new tormented (Uber) versions of each of the endgame bosses, allowing you to further test your build against some of the hardest encounters in the game.
One of these bosses is the Echo of Varshan, and not only does he drop some of the strongest Unique items in the game, but he also provides players with one of the materials needed to summon Uber Duriel. In this article, we are going to go over both the regular and the tormented versions of the Echo of Varshan, explaining how you can summon him, as well as the full loot table of Unique items that can drop from him.

Echo of Varshan Location & Summon Requirements
The Echo of Varshan boss fight can be found inside the Malignant Burrow. This dungeon is really easy to find as it is right next to the Tree of Whispers in the Writhing Mire zone in Hawezar. When you enter it, you will have to fight a small number of enemies before you finally reach the summoning altar.
In order to summon the Echo of Varshan, you will have to have one part of each of these resources:
These items can be found by opening the cache you receive from completing Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers. The cache will contain one or two random items from the set. Another way of obtaining these body parts is by defeating Grotesque Debtors, which have a chance to spawn after completing Whispers of the Dead quests around the open world. These items can also be crafted at the Alchemist.
Since the release of Season 4, these body parts can now drop from other sources, such as Elites, Local Events, Whisper Caches, Treasure Goblins, and the new Hellborne enemies from Helltides. This will make it much easier to farm the materials needed to summon the Echo of Varshan, but due to these drops being random, the best way to focus farm the body parts is still through Grim Favors and Grotesque Debtors.

How to Summon Tormented (Uber) Echo of Varshan
Tormented Echo of Varshan is a level 200 version of the original boss fight, making him much more difficult to defeat but also much more rewarding. You can summon the tormented version of Varshan through the same altar in his arena, but you are going to need three times as many materials, as well as 2 Stygian Stones. Stygian Stones can be found by completing the new Pit of Artificers endgame dungeon at higher levels. Here are the materials needed in order to summon Tormented Echo of Varshan:
- 3x Gurgling Head
- 3x Blackened Femur
- 3x Trembling Hand
- 3x Malignant Heart
- 2x Stygian Stone
Each time you defeat Tormented Varshan you are going to receive 5 times the amount of loot, and for your first victory over him you are also going to be rewarded with a Resplendent Spark, which can be used to craft Uber Unique items, such as the Harlequin Crest.

Echo of Varshan Loot Table & Rewards
Not only does the Echo of Varshan have his own table of Unique items that he can drop, but he also provides one of the materials needed in order to summon the Uber Duriel boss fight. Since the release of Season 4, Varshan also has a small chance to drop Uber Unique items himself, making the fight much more rewarding in the long run.
Here is the full list of items that can drop from the Echo of Varshan boss fight in World Tier 4:
- Mucus-Slick Egg - Resource needed to summon Uber Duriel.
That covers the full list of Unique items that can drop from the Echo of Varshan boss fight, as well as how you can summon him. Make sure you are prepared before you try and defeat the new tormented version of this fight, as it is much harder and it will require you to push your character to the absolute limit.
