Dragon Age: The Veilguard provides you with many options for how the story will progress, as well as how you approach combat. You have three main options: Mage, Warrior, and Rogue, each with a unique playstyle and mechanics. Many players enjoy playing a stealthy outlaw class in their RPGs, which will make the Rogue a popular choice. Just like the other classes, Rogues have three distinct specializations that you can unlock as you progress, each enhancing different aspects of their deadly skills. This variety makes Dragon Age: The Veilguard highly replayable, but what about your first journey? In this article, we’ll dive into the Rogue specializations, ranking them from best to worst for Dragon Age: The Veilguard!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Best Rogue Specializations Tier List
The Rogue class has three different specializations that you can choose from: the Duelist, the Saboteur, and the Veil Ranger. Each of these can provide you with a different playstyle, and you can unlock them when you reach level 20. Here is how we rank these specializations based on their power level in combat, from best to worst:
#1 - Veil Ranger
The Veil Ranger is the archer subclass of the Rogue, focusing heavily on staying away from enemies and dealing tons of burst damage through long-range shots and charged attacks. While we believe that the Veil Ranger is the strongest Rogue specialization in the game, we think that to get the most potential out of it, you’re going to need a tanky Warrior companion like Harding or Taash. If the Veil Ranger can use their abilities without being surrounded by enemies, they can deal some of the highest damage in the game. If you stay on the move and focus on enemies trying to reach you, you’ll have an easy time on any of the game’s difficulties!

#2 - Duelist
The Duelist is the melee counterpart of the Veil Ranger; if left unattended, it can do some of the highest melee damage in the game. Both of these Rogue specializations are a bit on the squishier side, but if you manage to dodge your enemies' attacks, you’ll make quick work of them when you go on the offensive. This specialization is incredibly mobile, focusing on moving from enemy to enemy while dealing tons of Necrotic damage. If you master the parrying and dodging mechanics of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the Duelist quickly becomes one of the strongest and most fun specializations you can play.

#3 - Saboteur
The Saboteur is more of a crowd control class, mixing in different traps and contraptions that can disable enemies and allow you to move in and out of combat. While this playstyle can be extremely fulfilling for some players, we don’t recommend it compared to the Duelist and the Veil Ranger. There’s too much downtime between abilities, and you become overly reliant on your companions to do the heavy lifting. While an optimized Saboteur can be extremely strong, you’ll get much more mileage and enjoyment out of the other two specializations!
And that was our tier list for the best and worst Rogue specializations in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Hopefully, this guide has helped you see some of the strengths and weaknesses of each of the different options, so you can make a more educated decision before starting your next playthrough.
