Choosing the Right Team Composition

As you might know from other games with parties, such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, it's important for your team to be balanced and versatile. Basically, what you will need in each situation is melee, long-range, and support (be it healing, shielding, or crowd-control). This combination can be transformed in many ways and we're about to see how exactly.

Fighters are the best in close-range combat, dealing the most damage and tanking. This means it will be great for the rest of the team to aid you. To complement your power, recruit pawns specializing in ranged vocations such as Sorcerer, Archer, and Mage. Sorcerers and Archers boost your party's offensive capabilities, while Mages ensure sustained healing. The idea is that the fighter can tank and do insane damage while the rest heal and support.

Mages have an important role in supporting the team through healing and spell casting. When selecting pawns for your party, prioritize those proficient in DPS and Tank vocations like Warriors and Fighters. They will make up for your lack of serious damage. Meanwhile, you can heal and buff the others during combat.

Sorcerers can perform spell syncing, which allows the two of them to synchronize the same spell and cast it much faster. This is why having two of them isn't a bad idea. Same as with Mages, you'll also need someone on your team such as a Warrior or  Fighter to absorb all of the damage. For healing, you'll have to pick up a Mage as well.

While Archers excel in ranged combat, they benefit from close-range support. If someone is tanking while you're attacking, you'll be way safer. This is where close-range vocations like Warriors and Fighters come into the picture. Bring a Mage along for healing and buffing, and you'll have a classic team composition.

Thieves deal some decent melee damage. However, they often draw the attention of enemies but aren't tanky enough to take the heat. To protect yourself, add other close-range or melee vocations like Warriors and Fighters to the team. They will tank for you while you deal damage. Include a Mage in your party for healing and buffs, which will help you Thief execute hit-and-run tactics easily.
