Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - Count Ymir & Jolan Quest

Although the questline of Count Ymir and Jolan is completely optional in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, it will definitely reward you with some of the coolest items in the new expansion, so you can progress even faster. Ymir and Jolan are NPCs, and they will give you a series of tasks that will reward you with special gear and exclusive spells.

Keep in mind that it's very good to have access to a large portion of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree's map before you begin this quest, including the Hinterlands and Cerulean Coast. Moreover, it would be perfect if you could also acquire the O Mother gesture and either an Iris of Grace or an Iris of Occultation.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Count Ymir and Jolan Questline Walkthrough

First, you need to meet Ymir in Manus Metyr to receive the Hole-Laden Necklace and Ruins Map. You can now speak to Jolan and complete the first Ruins Map by traveling to Finger Ruins of Rhia and sounding the Hanging Bell.

Return to Manus Metyr and speak to Ymir to get the third Ruins map. Talk to Jolan one more time and repeat the same process as before. Once you're finished, fight Metyr, Mother of Fingers, and return to Manus Metyr to confront both Ymir and Jolan.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Cathedral of Manus Metyr

You can find Manus Metyr after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, at Castle Ensis and entering Scadu Altus. Head north of the Highroad Cross Site of Grace until you reach the guide stele and acquire the Scadu Altus Map Fragment. Keep going north, turn right at the fork in the road and head southeast towards Moorth Ruins.

At the southern corner, you will find a hole in the ground that leads to an underground cavern. Don't hesitate to jump in there; it will take you to Bonny Village. Once you reach it, head east, over a small ravine and two bridges. From there, walk north until you see Church District Highroad. Take a southward turn and go to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.

Count Ymir is easy to find; you will see him sitting on the throne in the apse of Manus Metyr. He will give you the Hole-Laden Necklace item and Ruins Map that will point you to the Finger Ruins of Rhia, west of Jagged Peak. In case you don't see him at the throne, go to the small graveyard connected to Manus Metyr on the west side.

Wherever he happens to be in that moment, speak to him to advance his dialogue and quest. He will teach you new glintstone sorceries, and you can always check his stock to see if there's something you like.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree The Finger Ruins & The Hanging Bells

You now have a series of Ruins Maps to help you find a few spots to sound a Hanging Bell. After you complete each of these steps, return to Manus Metyr and speak to Ymir. Jolan will be at the same place as him.

• Ruins Map 1: Finger Ruins of Rhia, west of Jagged Peak
• Ruins Map 2: Finger Ruins of Dheo, east of the Hinterlands in Scaduview
• Ruins Map 3: Finger Ruins of Miyr, underneath Manus Metyr

Be careful, because after you've completed Ruins Map 3, you will be attacked by Swordhand of Night Anna and Metyr, Mother of Fingers. The latter is a Remembrance boss, and you can cash in her Power of Remembrance with Finger Reader Enia at Roundtable Hold to get the Staff of the Great Beyond or the Gazing Finger. The first one is used to cast sorceries and incantations, and the second one is a unique skill that causes explosions.

Once you have defeated Metyr, Mother of Fingers, return to Manus Metyr. Without a doubt, Jolan is not the nicest person out there, so don't hesitate to kill her as soon as you can. When you return to Ymir's throne, she will attack you. Kill the invader, and Ymir will immediately spawn at his throne and attack you as well, now as Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers. When you kill him, you will receive the following items:

• Ymir's Bell Bearing
• Maternal Staff
• High Priest Hat
• High Priest Robe
• High Priest Gloves
• High Priest Undergarments

Make sure to return to the cemetary to the west, where you will also get the Cherishing Fingers sorcery. This is one of the spells Ymir used during your fight against him.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Iris Of Grace & Iris Of Occultation

Talk to Jolan one last time, and you will be presented with a choice. You can either use an Iris of Grace or an Iris of Occultation to decide her fate. Be aware that you can also give an Iris to Fire Knight Qeelign. Here are the rewards you can expect from each option:

• Iris of Grace: Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ashes
• Iris of Occultation: The Sword of Night

The Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ashes will allow you to summon her in a battle whenever you decide. The Sword of Night is a powerful katana that can be used against all kinds of enemies. However, the quest is not done yet. There is one last thing that needs to be done.

If you choose the Iris of Grace and you have the Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ashes, teleport back to the Hinterland Site of Grace in Scaduview, then go east until you get to the Shaman Village. Jump down a few ledges at the east corner and you'll find Anna's puppet - the physical manifestation of Swordhand of Night Anna.

Interact with the puppet, and when she asks you a question, press Yes. That will transform the Swordhand of Night Jolan Ashes Spirit into the Jolan and Anna Spirit Ashes.
