With less than two weeks until the next season in Fortnite, Epic Games has introduced a new Lightning Storm event that started a couple of hours ago. This event is reminiscent of the one we had at the end of Season 1, where the ground started trembling and eventually, we saw the Titan Hand appear with Pandora's Box.
In the recent Medusa's Snapshot quests, we made Zeus angry by siding with Medusa, and now everyone will feel his real power. In this article, we will explore everything you need to know about the new Lightning Storm live event in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2.

Lightning Storm Event in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2
Thanks to the data-miner, PеQu, we now have some information about the new Lightning Storm event that is currently underway.
Just like the previous mini-event that transformed the map, this one will unfold in several stages. Here is everything we know:
Stage 1: Mount Olympus Changes
The event kicks off with dramatic changes at Mount Olympus. Storm clouds have gathered, turning pitch black, and the statue at Mount Olympus has come to life with electrified eyes. These thunderstorm clouds are charging up, signaling that something big is about to happen.

Stage 2: Animated Statue
As the event progresses, the statue at Mount Olympus will animate, lifting its sword towards the sky. This action will channel the built-up electricity, likely leading to significant lightning strikes across the island. These strikes will probably target Pandora's Box and eventually break it open.
Update: Stage 2 has officially started! The statue came to life two hours ago, lifted its sword, and shot a giant lightning bolt into the sky. The lightning then returned and struck Pandaro's Box directly, filling its seal with energy. It will take a few more strikes to fully charge the seal, and once it's full, the box will open, leading us to the next exciting stage of the event.
Stage 3: Pandora's Box and the Sandstorm
When Pandora's Box is hit by lightning, it will release an energy burst, potentially leading to an explosion. This chain reaction will trigger a Sandstorm that gradually engulfs the island in three stages: far, medium, and close. The Sandstorm won’t directly hit the island but will create a dramatic backdrop reminiscent of previous major events. This event sets the stage for a leaked post-apocalyptic, desert-like theme for Season 3.
Update: After the statue's third strike of giant red lightning, Pandora's box was finally broken. There was a big explosion from the box that shot everyone into the sky, where you could see the energy jumping across the island into the sea. It created a massive lightning sandstorm in the distance, which will be coming closer in the next days to transform the island into the next season's landscape.

Additionally, Zeus's Hourglass was added last week during Medusa's Snapshot quests. We will probably have to destroy it, similar to how we dealt with the chains of Pandora's Box. It is currently unknown whether it will cause the Sandstorm or just further enrage Zeus and unleash his true power.
That is everything we know so far about the new Lightning Storm live event in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. Epic Games is doing a great job of making the storyline fluid, using events from past seasons to build up to the new one. This approach keeps the game fresh and engaging, with each event adding to the evolving narrative of Fortnite. For more Fortnite guides and news, please explore the rest of our website.
