Genshin Impact: Is the Chronicled Wish Worth It

In this article we’ll discuss if the new Chronicled Wish in Genshin Impact is worth it and what we think of it.

During the Genshin Impact Version 4.5 Livestream the Chronicled Wish, which is a new type of banner, was revealed.

This got a lot of players excited and talking until it was revealed that the Chronicled Wish will require Intertwined Fates rather than the much expected Acquaint Fates.

Knowing this let’s see if the Chronicled Wish is worth it or not.

A Ray of Hope for the Players

The Chronicled Wish is a banner that offers players the chance to obtain a ton of the older characters in the game that have had at least 3 reruns and haven’t had a rerun in a long time.

We’ve made an extensive explanation on it so you can check that out to get a better understanding of what the banner is.

The Chronicled Wish is truly a ray of hope for those players that have wanted a specific 5-star character, whether that is from the Standard Banner character or not, but have just not had the chance to get it.

In this banner they’ll be able to do so, which is surely a great quality of life feature to be added to the game.

And given that players can also wish for specific weapons this makes the feature even better, however, we cannot ignore the elephant in the room, which is that this banner uses Intertwined Fates rather than Acquaint Fates.

A Slap in the Face

Given that Genshin Impact has had a bad track record with its recent updates and event the big drama that happened around the 3 Intertwined Fates giveaway during the game’s celebration of the Chinese New Year, players were assuming that the team behind Genshin Impact will try to redeem themselves and make their players happy, as it is the players that are the backbone behind any game.

The Chronicled Wish was a great opportunity for Genshin Impact to show their players that they actually care about them and that they are thinking and acting with the idea of bettering the game.

However, what happened was that they took this opportunity and turned it into another flop.

The decision to use Intertwined Fates for the Chronicled Wish, which not only has a 50/50 system, but does not even transfer guarantees between banners is downright predatory and is something that is quite literally a slap in the face for most players.

Having players make the choice if they want to pull for the newest character and weapon, or pull for characters that have been out for years and are by this point severely powercrept is one that shouldn’t be forced on players in the first place, and shows how much the Genshin Impact team cares about the playerbase.

Is the Chronicled Wish Worth It?

In its current state we honestly cannot recommend the Chronicled Wish as something you should be spending your hard earned currency on.

The requirement of Intertwined Fates rather than Acquaint Fates, the addition of a 50/50, not transferring guarantee are the major points that led us to making this decision and are certainly big topics that we hope the Genshin Impact team addresses.

We think that in its current state the Chronicled Wish is a waste of currency and is not something that anyone should be pulling one.

Yes, there will surely be players that have not gotten a character that they want and the Chronicled Wish will surely be a good way for them to get those characters, however, the majority of the player base will likely not use it, given that the new releasing characters all need Intertwined Fates to summon.

We are somewhat saddened to see that the Genshin Impact team took this direction with the Chronicled Wish rather than making it into something that the players would love to interact with.

We are looking forward to see if the developers will make some changes to the banner before it releases in Version 1.5, but as it is now we cannot recommend it.
