Hades 2: What Are Ashes?

Ashes are one of the most important resources in Hades 2 as they are used to unlock Arcana Cards, which are powerful upgrades that you can bring with you in your runs. The 'Grasp of the Arcana' system is very similar to how the Mirror of the Night worked in the original, and being able to use more Arcana Cards is going to be your main way of progressing through the game. Unlocking each Arcana Card costs a certain amount of Ash, with some of the more expensive ones requiring other rare resources as well.

You can unlock these Arcana Cards at the Altar of Ashes at the Crossroads. Ashes are also used as a resource in some other unlocks, such as some of the incantations at the Cauldron next to Hecate. Make sure to focus on finding more Ashes at the beginning of the game, as having access to more Arcana Cards is going to be crucial if you want to defeat Chronos.

Hades 2: How to Get More Ashes

Ashes are a very common resource in Hades 2, and you can acquire them in a variety of ways. The first method of obtaining more Ashes is by clearing rooms that have them as their reward. You can also purchase Ashes from both the Wretched Broker and Charon's Stash in the Crossroads main hub. Additionally, there is a chance for them to appear both in Charon's Shop, as well as Charon's Well during your runs, so make sure to look out for that. Here is a quick overview of where you can get more Ashes from:

  • Clearing rooms that award it.
  • Buying it from the Wretched Broker.
  • Ordering it from Charon's Stash.
  • Buying it from Charon's Shop & Well.

That is everything you need to know about one of the most important resources in Hades 2, Ashes. Make sure to focus on getting as many Ashes as possible at the earlier stages of the game so you have a good collection of Arcana Cards to choose from.
