As a true sequel, Hades 2 brings back many of the things that players enjoyed about the original, from the action-packed gameplay to the enthralling story and the colorful cast of characters. But it also improves upon all of these systems and adds a few new features that can make a huge impact on how you play the game. There are a lot of new resources and currencies that you can earn in each of your runs, which can be used to unlock new weapons and abilities, improving Melinoe's capabilities in each subsequent run. Understanding which ones you should focus on gathering is going to make reaching and defeating Chronos a lot easier in the long run.

One of these new resources is called Psyche, and some players might not know what it does and how important it is, as it did not exist in the original game. In this article, we are going to explain how Psyche works and how you can use it!

Hades 2: What is Psyche?

Psyche is one of the main resources in Hades 2, and it's also going to be one of your main forms of progression throughout the earlier stages of the game. Psyche can be spent to upgrade your 'Grasp of the Arcana' at the Altar of Ashes, which allows Melinoe to use more Arcana Cards at the same time. The Arcana Cards are very similar to how the Mirror of the Night worked in the original game, allowing you to choose from different upgrades, such as more Death Defiance charges, more health, and different utility options for your runs, making Melinoe stronger over time.

Each Arcana Card requires a certain amount of Grasp for you to use it, which creates a limit that you have to play around. Upgrading the 'Grasp of the Arcana' will create more slots to fill up with these Arcana Cards, which makes Psyche one of the most important resources in the earlier stages of the game. Each subsequent upgrade is going to cost more and more Psyche, so make sure to get as much of it as possible during your runs.

Hades 2: How to Get More Psyche

Luckily, Psyche is one of the easiest resources to obtain in Hades 2, and you are going to be able to find it pretty much everywhere. The first way of obtaining more Psyche is by clearing rooms that have it as its reward. You can also buy Psyche from both the Wretched Broker and Charon's Stash in the Crossroads main hub. It can also be found by using the Tablet of Peace on Lost Shades throughout your runs, and each of them is going to reward you a substantial amount of Psyche. There is also a chance for them to appear both in Charon's Shop, as well as Charon's Well during your runs, so make sure to look out for that. Here is a quick overview of where you can get more Psyche from:

  • Clearing rooms that award it.
  • Buying it from the Wretched Broker.
  • Ordering it from Charon's Stash.
  • Buying it from Charon's Shop & Well.
  • Using the Tablet of Peace on Lost Shades.

That is everything you need to know about Psyche in Hades 2. Make sure to try and get as much of it as possible, especially in your first few runs in the game, as it will allow you to use more and more Arcana Cards, making your runs a lot easier and much more manageable.
