Helldivers 2: What Are Annihilator Tanks & Where to Find Them

If you are looking to complete your Personal Order or simply want to blow up one of the most difficult foes in Helldivers 2, you might be on the lookout for Annihilator Tanks. The lack of any kind of bestiary in the game can make it a little difficult to know what to kill or where to find them. That is where we come in. 

Helldivers 2: What Are Annihilator Tanks? 

The Annihilator Tanks are an Automaton creation and one of the hardest enemies to take down in Helldivers 2. If you are searching for them for your Personal Order, you will not have to kill one of them but two of them. One just isn't enough for helldivers. We are better than that. 

The Automatons have two kinds of tanks so make sure you are attacking the right ones. Annihilator Tanks are flatter and have longer gun barrels. The other kind, the Shredder, is taller with a machine gun replacing the main barrel. If you are still unsure you can ping them in-game and bring up the name. The Annihilator also has a machine gun but its main gun is an explosive artillery cannon.

Helldivers 2: Where to Find Annihilator Tanks?

Being one of the most difficult enemies to destroy, you won't find Annihilator Tanks on easy missions. You will have to challenge yourself if you want to face them in Helldivers 2. If you deploy into Automaton missions with a level 5 difficulty then there is a chance you will see one but they are more common on higher levels. 

The fastest tactic to find Annihilator Tanks is to jump into an extreme mission. Try one of the Eradication missions where the only goal is to kill a few hundred Automatons. You will likely see an Annihilator Tank or two.

Helldivers 2: How to Destroy Annihilator Tanks

First, you should know that the Annihilator Tank's main cannon can kill even the best helldivers in one blast. If it has a clear shot, you are seconds from death so get out of the way. We have a few tips to make sure you stand a chance.

Heavy-duty stratagems are your best bet at taking out Annihilator Tanks in Helldivers 2. Use Railcannon Strikes, 500kg bombs, Orbital Lasers, or anything else you can think of. Bring as much firepower as you can. You will need it. It's unlikely something bigger or worse is coming along. If the Annihilator kills you, on your way back into the fight aim for the tank. Your pod will cause serious damage.

Get up close and personal. The Annihilator doesn't know what to do when you climb on top of it. Other Automatons can still shoot you but you will be safe from the tank. This might not be the best tactic but it's worth mentioning. You can always drop a turret on it, this will confuse it and it will spin in circles. 

Aim for the vent on its back. While standard arms fire will not be enough to damage the vent, the Railgun will. Try the Laser Cannon, Anti-materiel Rifle, and the Autocannon on the weak spot. When the Annihilator starts to smoke, you know you are getting somewhere. Keep up the damage and it will catch fire, letting you know it is close to destruction.
