Helldivers 2: Are The Illuminate Already Here?

With the latest Major Order coming to an end in Helldivers 2, what will Joel or his team throw at us next? Surely the Termicide will have no unforeseen side-effects. Surely the flying bugs are just figments of our imagination. We will have pushed back the bugs and the Automatons will fall shortly after, right? Victory and galaxy-wide democracy is pretty much a done deal according to Super Earth.

On the other hand, some players are reporting strange things going on. One helldiver swore that his Mech's controls inverted by themselves three times during one deployment. It could have been a simple glitch.

Another group of players on Turing saw a flashing dot on their minimap moving toward them. It passed them by without any enemy appearing. It's possibly another glitch in Helldivers 2.

A couple of glitches are nothing to worry about, right? The Ministry of Truth would tell us if something is happening we should know about. These are just singular events with only one or two witnesses. 

What about the blue beams of light? Multiple helldivers have reported seeing blue laser beams shooting as if from nowhere. One player says this blue light hit them, taking away nearly half his health. Others have seen the so-called blue sniper shoot bugs as well. Could it be a mass delusion? Or could another faction of aliens be joining the war? Could it be the Illuminate?

Helldivers 2: What Are The Illuminate?

The Illuminate is an alien faction in the first Helldivers game. They have highly advanced technology and telekinetic abilities. They aimed to spread across the galaxy, expanding their neural network. 

Using invisibility and energy shields, the Illuminate were extremely difficult to take down. They could invert game controls and their snipers were infamous in the first Helldivers.

Arrowhead Game Studios has yet to announce the arrival of a third faction in the war but they haven't denied their existence. In-game news broadcasts have already referenced that the Illuminate are still active and looking to re-establish themselves. Also, you can hear rumors of Illuminate sightings broadcasting on your ship. 

The world has seen leaked models of the alien faction, so it shouldn't be a shock that they will enter the battle soon. Is this the start of another invasion or are we experiencing sneaky hints at what the future will bring? 

Keep your eye out for the Illuminate on your deployments. Who knows what Joel and his team will throw at us next, but prepare for blue lasers hitting you out of nowhere. Keep on fighting the good fight. Every bug or Automaton you blow up is one step closer to liberty.
