Manor Lords is here and we are full of questions about how we can grow our small settlement into a prosperous city. Not only has Slavic Magic created a city-building simulation set in medieval Europe, but there will also be real-time strategy aspects. If we are going to expect attacks from bandits or invading lords, we are going to have to make sure we have the wealth to support our militia.
To earn the wealth needed to buy everything we need, we will need to trade our surplus items. We are going to have to know how the trading system works in Manor Lords. If you are unsure, we are here to help you understand.

Manor Lords: How to Trade
As you can imagine, the first step in buying and selling in Manor Lords is to build a Trading Post. You will need to assign a family of villagers to become traders. When you have your staff, the next step is finding the trading tab and looking at all the items you can buy and sell.
Every product in the trading post has four options.
- No trade – You will not trade with this item in any way.
- Import – You will only buy this item.
- Export – You will only sell this item.
- Full trade – You will buy and sell this item depending on your need.
If you are importing, you will need to select your desired surplus and your traders will buy enough to maintain that amount at all times. If you are exporting, the traders will sell everything you have in stock that is more than your desired surplus.

Play around with different products until you find the best options for you. Eggs are always a good choice at the beginning of Manor Lords. Warbows are easy to make and can sell for a good profit. You can also establish trade routes to ensure merchants visit once a month to buy or sell a specific product.
You will notice that the items are classed as Minor Trades and Major Trades. The Minor Trades are small items you will have a lot of, like eggs or materials. Start with the Minor Trades at the start of Manor Lords and build some wealth so you can upgrade your burgage plots and craft more complex products, like ale. Then you can sell those products as Major Trades and make some serious profit.

Build a Livestock Trading Post to buy sheep, oxen, mules, and horses. We recommend purchasing a horse when you have a chance and assigning it to the trade post. This will make all deals quicker as your items will move faster across the map. Just remember before you buy any livestock you will need a place for the animals to live.
That’s everything you need to know about trading in Manor Lords. Depending on how you want to play the game you will find your own preferred products to buy and sell. The more complex an item is to craft, the more money it will sell for. I hope this helps. Check out our guides on crafting clothes, getting sheep, and making ale for your tavern.
