Last Epoch: Will There Be a Server Wipe At Launch?

Last Epoch is almost here, with an official release date of February 21, 2024. With the game being available in Early Access for a few years now, many players already have a big roster of characters, and they might be wondering if the official release is going to wipe their progress.

Most games in the genre operate under the live-service model, with new content arriving every 3 to 4 months, which resets the economy and incentivizes you to start a new character from the beginning. Will There Be a Server Wipe At Launch in Last Epoch

Once Last Epoch releases on February 21st, all existing online characters will be moved to a 'Legacy' realm, and a new season will begin, with all players starting from scratch in a fresh economy. Last Epoch's content updates are going to be very similar to all of the other live-service ARPGs, like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, where these types of 'wipes' are going to create opportunities for players to start from the beginning while also being able to experience all of the new mechanics added to the game. In Last Epoch, these seasons are going to be called 'Cycles', with Eleventh Hour Games aiming to release a new one every 3 to 4 months.

Your characters will always be available for you to play, but each cycle they will be moved to the Legacy realm, and they will not be able to share their stash or trade items with anyone participating in the new cycle. Offline characters, on the other hand, will remain saved on your computer, and you will still be able to play them after the launch of the game.
