Madame Web is the newest addition to Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe. Here’s everything you need to know about the highly anticipated superhero spin-off.
The Spider-Man cinematic universe continues to expand every single year as more spin-off superhero movies are released. After the releases of Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), as well as the famously bombed Jared Leto movie Morbius (2022), Madame Web is the next installment in the series of Spider-Man character movies.
It’s a real gamble to predict whether this movie will do well or not, but nevertheless, audiences are excited to see this character from the Marvel comics finally get her own story. The star cast features Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, and Emma Roberts in the lead roles.
Read below for all the details we know so far about the plot, the release date, and the runtime of Madame Web.

The superhero movie’s release date was postponed multiple times in the past year. The original date was planned to be July 7, 2023. Multiple postponements followed afterwards, first for October 6, 2023, and then for February 16, 2024, until the studio finally settled on Valentine’s Day.
Madame Web’s official theatrical release date is February 14, 2024, in IMAX. The blockbuster will benefit from a Valentine’s Day opening weekend at the box office, along with the musical drama Bob Marley: One Love.

Madame Web: Cast
The lead actress, playing Madame Web herself, is Dakota Johnson, who has risen to popularity in the past decade from her small appearance in The Social Network to the lead character in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, the horror remake of Suspiria and the Oscar-nominated drama The Lost Daughter. Johnson's co-stars are 3 young actresses on the rise to fame in recent years with impressive growing filmographies.
Sydney Sweeney shook the world with her performance as Cassie in Euphoria and has continued proving herself to be a versatile actress in recent movies, such as the intimate biopic drama Reality and the recently-released rom-com Anyone But You.
Isabela Merced is known for Transformers: The Last Knight and is confirmed to appear next in The Last of Us: Season 2. Celeste O'Connor is known for A Good Person and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Other notable actors include Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) and Adam Scott (Severance).

Madame Web: Trailer
The official trailer for Madame Web was released on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s YouTube channel on November 15, 2023. It gives us a detailed first look at what we can expect from the movie, but if you are thinking of watching the trailer, watch with caution. There might be spoilers.
“Her web connects them all.”
Madame Web is the standalone origin story of the titular Marvel Comics heroine, but the official trailer on YouTube is labeled with the ambiguous subtitle quoted above. That could be a potential possibility of opening up the world for other spin-offs and crossovers with Madame Web in the Spider-Man multiverse and beyond.
Madame Web: Runtime
Recent reports have confirmed that the runtime of Madame Web locks in at 116 minutes (or 1 hour and 56 minutes), making it the longest movie in Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe.
It still remains below the 2-hour mark, compared to most Marvel superhero films that often get criticized for having unnecessarily long durations.
As we approach the official release date in less than a month, all signs are working in favor of Madame Web’s success in the box office and in the eyes of movie fans everywhere. Only time will tell if those predictions are right.
