In Manor Lords, you are the ruling master of the area and everything within it. As you progress through the city builder, you will soon feel the pull to expand your territory to your neighboring regions. It is only natural. All those in power desire more power. It’s not a simple task of marching into new areas and starting to build a new settlement.
You will have to claim it as your own. You are going to need the Influence to spare. This is not easily done and you are not alone in not understanding how expansion works in Manor Lords. That’s what we are here for!

How to Gain Influence in Manor Lords
You can gain Influence in Manor Lords in several ways but we have a few tips to get you moving along.
- Build a Church
- Build a Manor and set up a tithe
- Conquering bandit camps
Constructing and upgrading your church will give you a decent boost in Influence. You won’t gain a lot for a tithe but every little helps. The biggest contributor is dealing with bandits. It will depend on how many brigands are present but you will get around 20 Influence for each bandit you kill. Hire mercenaries to deal with the raiders so you don’t risk your people’s lives.
You are going to need 1000 Influence to claim a new region. If a rival lord controls it, it will cost you double and you might have to invade with an army so it is best to have a strong army available.

How to Claim Regions in Manor Lords
As long as you have the Influence necessary, claiming regions in Manor Lords is easy. Open up the map and zoom out until you can see the different territories. You will see the option to claim the region with Influence. There is another method visible called "Claim with King’s Favor" but this choice is not available in early access.
Wait for the required time to elapse and be aware that a rival lord may contest your right of ownership and send their troops against you. You can do the same if you see a neighbor attempting to expand so it is a good idea to establish a strong army for these scenarios. Having a strong retinue will help with this.

Now you have claimed a new region, you can still not build in the area until you construct a Settler’s Camp. You will also have to decide how much of your treasury you are willing to invest in the potential village. The more you donate, the more resources you will have available at the beginning.
That’s everything you need to know about gaining Influence and claiming new regions. As your rule expands, you will be in charge of more people. With great power comes great responsibility. You will need to barter between your settlements so we recommend buying some mules. Check out our other guides for Manor Lords below!
