Marvel Rivals Hinted to be Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Consoles: Leaks

The newest collaboration between Marvel Games and NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals, which is currently rumored to be releasing sometime in the beginning of 2025, was revealed just last month. The upcoming Marvel shooter game will feature some of your favorite Marvel characters, showcasing their abilities in 6v6 matches.

Until now, Marvel Games had only released information regarding the game's availability for PC. However, the most recent leaks hint that Marvel Rivals may be playable on more consoles. Find out what we know below!

Marvel Rivals: Release Window Speculation

The alpha version of Marvel Rivals is set to be released in May 2024. This version will allow players to test all playable characters, maps, and mechanics.

An official release date for the game has yet to be revealed, but it's rumored to launch at the beginning of 2025.

Marvel Rivals Playable for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S: Leaks

Despite the initial information from Marvel Games that their shooter game would be playable on PC only, leaks from yesterday suggest otherwise.

A recent post from the Dreamz Gaming account reveals a hidden code on the Marvel Rivals website, confirming that the game will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The screenshot displays the possible console choices for the game. While it was speculated that the new shooter game would eventually be available for PS and Xbox, now it seems we might have these options right from the start. However, it's unclear why Marvel Games didn't announce this with the trailer.

What We Know About Marvel Rivals' Gameplay

Marvel Rivals' gameplay strongly resembles that of Overwatch, particularly in its emphasis on the clash of character powers and certain mechanics. It has been reported that there will be several game modes for players to choose from.

The Marvel Rivals trailer confirmed the game's genre and gameplay. It is set to be a team-based third-person shooter, featuring 6v6 matches. From the trailer, it's evident that the maps will showcase iconic locations from the Marvel Universe, including Tokyo in 2099 and Thor's home, Asgard. During battles, Marvel superheroes and supervillains alike will utilize their powers to gain the upper hand and secure victory.

From all that we have seen, Marvel Rivals has huge potential to compete with other well-known games in the same genre. Not making it accessible on different consoles would be a significant loss for the project.
