Marvel Rivals launched its Closed Alpha Test with five base game modes, each providing a unique experience for players:

  1. Tutorial Mode: This mode is designed to teach new Marvel Rivals players how the game and its combat work. As Galacta, you'll get to learn some basic and advanced techniques to master your superhero abilities.

  2. Quick Match Mode: In Quick Match, Marvel Rivals players select their favorite heroes to battle against opponents. They get to complete different mission objectives. This is a more casual game mode, which allows you to polish your skills while also having fun with other players.

  3. Pocket Universe Mode: In the next Marvel Rivals game mode, you'll get to respawn at different locations and compete to eliminate as many enemies as possible. It’s a chaotic and thrilling experience that tests players' reflexes and adaptability.

  4. Custom Game Mode: As the name suggests, Custom mode allows players to create and join customized matches, created by the players themselves. You can join your friends and have a unique Marvel Rivals experience.

  5. Competitive Mode: This is where things get interesting! The Competivie Mode is what many other games call 'Ranked'. You get to compete against other Marvel Rivals players in order to climb the ranks. Skill, teamwork, and strategy are key to ascending the leaderboard.

The Domination game mode takes place in the Royal Palace area of Yggsgard and it involves capturing and holding objectives. In each round, the teams fight to control the capture point and fill their progress bar. The mode features a best-of-three format with multiple sub-maps within Yggsgard, such as Odin’s Archive, Bifrost, and Throne Room. Some players have mentioned that Domination works just like Overwatch's Control mode.

The Convoy game mode in Marvel Rivals takes place in Yggdrasil of Yggsgard. The teams switch roles between attackers and defenders. The attackers have to destroy Loki’s Yggdrasil Tapping Device and escort Jarnbjorn to Yggdrasil, while defenders try to stop them. The map features high ground and destructible environments, adding strategic layers to the gameplay. There are 3 checkpoints in the game (33.3%, 66.6%, 100%) and the attackers win only if they reach 100%.
