Season 9 of Overwatch 2 has arrived, and players are thrilled to experiment with all of the DPS heroes and their buffs. Significant changes to the damage and health system have occurred this season, making it essentially the season of DPS.
All the changes can make it confusing to choose a hero to main for Season 9. Don't worry, though! We're here to help with this hero tier list for choosing your new DPS.
Overwatch 2 Season 9 DPS Heroes Tier List
JUNKRAT - C TIER
Although Junkrat has become more effective due to the projectile changes, which made him hit more grenades, he is still not as good as the other DPS heroes. Despite being the worst DPS hero in Season 9, Junkrat is still in the C Tier.
WIDOWMAKER - C TIER
Similar to other heroes, Widowmaker's burst damage has been reduced. Although she is still capable of one-shotting, players will now need to aim for two shots most of the time. This is because her effective range is 45 meters and anyone outside of that range won't be eliminated with a single shot.

PHARAH - B TIER
Pharah's increased mobility is certainly beneficial for her survival. However, relying solely on mobility is not enough to protect her against skilled hit scan damage dealers such as Soldier: 76. Her vulnerability while airborne and the recent projectile changes make her an easier target.
BASTION - B TIER
Although he is still a reliable choice, Bastion can be easily overwhelmed due to the changes made to projectiles and his large hitbox. However, his accuracy in recon form remains impressive, and he can quickly melt down tanks in his assault form.
SOMBRA - B TIER
With the right amount of dedication and effort, Sombra can be a top-tier hero in Overwatch. However, it is important to note that playing her effectively requires a lot of critical thinking and ability management.
This may not be worth the effort for some players, as the payoff may not be as high as with other heroes.
TORBJÖRN - B TIER
The new projectile buffs have had both positive and negative effects on Torbjörn. Unfortunately, his hitbox is quite large, making him an easy target.
His ultimate ability can be challenging to use properly, especially when enemies are attacking from a distance. However, Torbjörn's turret can still be a valuable asset to his team even if he is not near them.
REAPER - B TIER
Despite the projectile buffs helping him with his life steal passive and making flanking easier with the increased health pool, Reaper still struggles on many maps.
Mei - B TIER
Similar to Bastion, Mei has a consistent damage output that works well at long range, but her abilities are more effective when used at close range. While she can still hold her own against tanks, other heroes in higher tiers outshine her significantly.

ECHO - A TIER
The only downside of Echo is her large hitbox. However, her damage output is more than sufficient to compete with other DPS heroes.
The increased size of her projectiles assists in charging her ultimate ability quicker, but she still needs to be careful due to her hitbox.
SYMMETRA - A TIER
Symmetra benefits from the extra health of this patch, which allows her to be more aggressive and support her team better.
However, in a meta where long-range DPS characters are dominant, she still faces difficulties in engaging in longer-ranged fights. This can make it challenging for her to contribute effectively in those situations.
GENJI - A TIER
Thanks to the recent updates, playing as Genji has become much easier, as hitting shurikens even at longer ranges is now more feasible.
However, Genji has always been a hero who does not engage in fights directly and instead looks for opportunities to make big plays or get kills. This aspect of his gameplay can be quite challenging compared to other heroes.
CASSIDY - A TIER
Cassidy is a powerful character, but like Genji, he has his limitations. His large hitbox can be a disadvantage, but his damage output is impressive within 25 meters. Beyond that range, his effectiveness decreases significantly. Additionally, his ultimate ability is still not optimal.
SOJOURN - A TIER
Sojourn is still very strong but due to the projectile changes, her alternative fire is now way easier to hit, but only has a 1.5x headshot multiplier.
This means that her enemies will always be left with at least 50 hp even with a fully charged headshot. In addition, she is very dependent on big hitbox enemies to get her charge quicker.
TRACER - A TIER
Tracer's damage output has become more consistent and easier to manage. However, she must remain careful to avoid being quickly taken down and be always prepared to escape. She is highly dependent on a flanking strategy to maximize her effectiveness.

ASHE - S TIER
Ashe is an extremely powerful hero with high damage potential. This season, she's a top pick due to the new anti-heal passive combined with her dynamite ability and fast fire rate.
She's versatile and can perform a wide range of tasks. Although her ultimate ability is not as strong as some other heroes', long-range and consistent damage is more important in the current season.
HANZO - S TIER
Hanzo is incredibly strong this season. He fires shots dealing 120 damage per second. Additionally, the increased projectile size makes it much simpler to land headshots.
His Storm Arrows ability has also been significantly buffed, allowing him to use it more frequently and deal more damage.
SOLDIER: 76 - S TIER
Soldier: 76 has always been one of the easiest hit-scan heroes to play. And in the current season, he has become even better. With the projectile and health changes, he has become an even more formidable hero.
When combined with his other abilities, his maximum damage output can be easily reached with decent tracking skills. He is currently the highest consistent DPS hero in Season 9.
