In Palworld, there are many ways you can be nice to your Pals, including feeding them, petting them, and building various buildings for their comfort. On the other hand, if you want to treat them poorly for whatever reason, you can butcher your Pals. In this guide, we will teach you exactly how to do that.
How To Butcher Pals in Palworld
Once you capture Pals in Palworld, you can't release them back into the wild. You have two options for handling unnecessary Pals: either sell them or butcher them for resources. Selling them earns you gold, while butchering them yields materials. To butcher a Pal, you first need to craft a Meat Cleaver, which is unlocked from the Technology tab at Level 12.

How To Craft a Meat Cleaver
The Meat Cleaver requires 5 Ingots, 20 Wood, and 5 Stone. Wood and Stone are easy to obtain, but Ingots require more effort. You'll need to unlock the Primitive Furnace, have a Kindling Pal, and gather enough Ore.

Once you have the materials, go to your Primitive Workbench, select the Cleaver, and begin crafting.

Butchering a Pal
After obtaining your Meat Cleaver, equip it as a weapon and leave your base. Activate the Pal you wish to butcher. Personally, I didn't want to kill any of my Pals, but I desperately needed cloth and couldn't find any, so I decided to butcher a Lamball. After activating the Pal, press and hold the '4' button and select the 'Butcher Pal' option.
You'll see a pixelated screen during the butchering process and then receive the rough materials, similar to what you'd get if you killed a Pal in the open world.

Essentially, the only practical reason for butchering a Pal is if you need a specific material from a certain Pal and you don't want to venture far into the world to find one.
And that concludes our guide on how to butcher Pals. It's a brutal option, but a necessary one if you are in need. For more Palworld guides, check the rest of our website.
