Planet Coaster 2 Beginner Tips & Tricks
It's important to mention that Planet Coaster 2 requires you to try out various strategies and keep track of every aspect of your park. Although these tips are some of the best, keep in mind that our list may not encompass every possible existing approach.
Guest Thoughts
Many beginners ignore their Guests and tend to forget the fact that they are the main source of income, Prestige, and general popularity. Moreover, nobody can tell better than them which aspects of your establishment need improvements. There are three levels of Guest satisfaction:
- Green - indicates that your Guests are content and happy
- Yellow - shows issues that need your attention
- Red - a major problem that must be fixed as soon as possible
Additionally, visitors have a level of Thirst, Hunger, Entertainment, Nausea, Energy, and Luxury. You need to make sure that these are all in the green category, or everyone will soon leave your park and you won't make any money. If you want to check what your Guests are thinking, click on them, and you'll get the information. You can also click on the Guest Thoughts tab at any Shop or Ride to achieve the same results.
Staff
Apart from building Coasters and keeping your Guests happy and entertained, you'll need to hire staff to take care of the facilities and make sure that your visitors are safe. Yes, ignoring your employees will bring you more money, especially at the beginning, but it can also result in people quitting their jobs and underperforming, which will lower your Prestige and popularity immensely.
Mechanics are especially important since they are responsible for keeping Rides and other machinery intact, as well as fixing problems when they occur. Moreover, it's good to hire at least a few Janitors because otherwise, your Guests will start complaining about how dirty the place is. Be aware that Lifeguards, Shop Staff, and Ride Operators are automatically assigned to their respective facilities after you first build them.

Pre-Built Rides
Yes, Planet Coaster 2 offers plenty of customization options to take advantage of, including when it comes to the Roller Coasters. However, if you're a beginner, we suggest starting with some basic pre-built Rides so you don't make a mistake that will lead to bankruptcy. This will also let you focus on getting used to all the new features and mechanics in the game.
There's a possibility that you might not like the pre-built options available, and if that's the case, you can always go to the Frontier Workshop and look at the player-made Coasters that might fit your park's Theme. Although it's good to learn how to build your own Coasters, it's better to wait until you've mastered the other features first.
Major Hotkeys
If you're playing the game on a PC, you'll be happy to learn that there are some hotkeys that will make your life way easier. These shortcuts don't apply to consoles, but they are worth trying out if you have the opportunity, as they can save an incredible amount of time that is otherwise wasted on customization and editing. Here is a list of our favorite ones:
Rotate
- Z + Mouse Sideways
- Get an object to face the other way
Redo
- Ctrl + Y
- A common but useful shortcut
Camera Torch
- L
- Good for building at night and inside dark spaces
Hide UI
- Right Ctrl + Right Shift + G
- Perfect for cinematic effects and screenshots
