- Bulbasaur
- Squirtle
Pokemon GO: Joining Max Battles
While you'd have a greater advantage playing with friends, Tier 1 Dynamax Pokemon are an easy solo, so you don't have to team up right away. You can first test the mechanics and see how the Max Battles work. Here are the general rules for joining Max Battles:
- Start with up to 4 people, including yourself.
- Each person can bring up to 3 Dynamax Pokemon in their team.
- Only Dynamax Pokemon can participate in this Max Battle.

Pokemon GO: How do Max Battles Work?
Depending on the tier of the Dynamax Pokemon you're raiding, the entry cost will vary, and the Max Particles (MP) will be returned to you if you don't win the battle. This is another reason why playing in a team will help all of you to progress in the season.
- Each Trainer must use a certain amount of Max Particles to join a battle, depending on the power of the Power Spot Boss.
- Max Battles are turn-based, differing from raiding and GO Battle League.
- Max Particles are only consumed if you successfully defeat the Power Spot Boss.
- It costs 250 MP for a 1-Star Max Battle.
Pokemon GO: How to Max Battle
There is no timer for winning. The Max Battle ends when either the Power Spot Boss is defeated, or all of your Pokemon faint. If all of your Pokemon faint while battling a three-star or higher Power Spot Boss, you can still help your allies by cheering for them so their meters fill faster.
Here are the mechanics of the Max Battles:
- Tap the screen to use Fast Attacks, and build up energy to use Charged Attacks.
- Attacking will also fill up the meter at the top of the screen.
- When it reaches its maximum, you can Dynamax your Pokemon for 3 turns.
- You can dodge boss attacks by swiping.
- If you spot energy icons on the battlefield, swipe to collect them and fill up your meter even faster.

Pokemon GO: Leaving Pokemon at Power Spots
Once you defeat a Power Spot Boss, you can place a Pokemon that was in your Battle Party at that Power Spot to help other trainers earn Candy and a Damage Bonus. When it returns, you will receive a reward based on how helpful it was to other trainers.
The damage boost corresponds to the number of Pokemon left at the Power Spot.
- You can withdraw your Pokemon from a Power Spot at any time.
- Your Pokemon will come back to you, and you will receive Candy when the Power Spot closes.
- You may also keep earning Candy from a Pokemon if you leave them to fight on a Power Spot for long enough.
