Best Way to Spend Gems
Gems are one of the resources in RAID: Shadow Legends that you’ll always wish you had more of. They are hard to get later on, and you’ll have to spend a ton of other resources to get them.
For this, it is important that you know how to use your Gems efficiently so that you do not end up wasting the initial amount that every new player gets.
One of the traps that beginners fall into when they first get some Gems is to go ahead and dump them into unlocking the Gem Mine.
While unlocking the Gem Mine for 500 Gems is not necessarily a bad call, it does not have the best return on investment.
To get back those 500 Gems you will need 2400 hours, or 100 days. A bit much if we were to be frank.
As such saving those 500 Gems for something else is, in our opinion, a better call.
Now then, where exactly should you invest those 500 Gems if not in the Gem Mine? The answer to that question is in - Champion Masteries.

What are Champion Masteries
Champion Masteries are talent trees that you unlock individually for each Champion to make them stronger.
To push content in RAID: Shadow Legends you need powerful Champions and one of the best ways to boost your Champions’ power is through Masteries.
To unlock these Masteries you’ll need what are known as Mastery Scrolls. These scrolls come in 3 rarities and are honestly a pain to farm.
Farming the needed Mastery Scrolls for each character can take a ton of time and energy, and at times is considered a waste of resources.
This is where Gems come into play.

How to Unlock Masteries With Gems
As already mentioned Masteries are important in making your Champions stronger to push harder content. To unlock these masteries you need a ton of energy, which can honestly be a pain to farm.
Thankfully, we have Gems to completely skip this process.
When you open a Champion and go to their Masteries you can then click on one of the Masteries, or on the + sign on the Mastery Scrolls in the top right to open a window that will prompt you to buy what is known as a Mastery Scroll Set.
This set will give you all the Mastery Scrolls that your Champion will need to unlock all masteries up to Rank 6 for the price of 800 Gems.
For any beginner, this is by far the best place that you can spend your Gems and is the option that will boost your progress in the game.

Which Champion Masteries to Unlock
For beginners, we recommend unlocking the Masteries on the starter champion you have chosen.
The starter champions in RAID: Shadow Legends are all great and will stay with you for a good chunk of the game, and even carry you to some end-game stuff.
That is why you won’t go wrong with using your first 800 Gems to unlock all masteries for your starter Champion. If you still haven’t started or are wondering which Champion to choose, then we’ll make it easy for you.
The best starter Champion is hands down, Kael. You can learn more about him in this article.

Champion Masteries, and more importantly the masteries of your starting Champion, are by far the best investment for your Gems when you first start out and should be the first thing you try to reach.
After this, you can gather Gems for other Champion Masteries, unlock the Gem Mine, or simply spend them on Energy to speed up your farming.
