V Rising just got a massive update which added a lot more content including new enemies, locations, armor, and even weapon types! With V Rising now leaving Early Access, players are set to expect a lot more polish, fine-tuning, and possibly updates coming in the near future as the developers slowly start building up this open-world survival jewel.

Tier List Explanation
This tier list will examine most of the spells in V Rising 1.0 into 4 separate tiers, ordering them from worst to best.
- C-Tier: Although they can be useful, you are better off with other spells.
- B-Tier: Viable and reliable in most situations, you can manage rather decently.
- A-Tier: Great options but lacking just slightly either in terms of damage or utility.
- S-Tier: The best spells you can use to ensure you are always victorious.
NOTE: Although this tier list strives to be as objective as possible in terms of viability, you should not limit yourself to strictly adhere to this list, but rather experiment and see which spell feels fun to play with.
V Rising 1.0: C-Tier Spells
Description: Summon a nova of ice at the target location dealing 140% magic damage. The nova radiates outward inflicting Chill.
This Frost spell does not offer all that much in terms of damage.
PROS:
- AoE damage
- Decent utility
CONS:
- Requires enemies to be Chilled first before you can Freeze them
- Insufficient damage
Description: Launch a projectile that deals 80% magic damage, summons a skeleton, and inflicts Condemn. The attack deals 40% bonus damage to enemies below 30% health.
This Unholy spell saw some major changes as it now only throws one projectile but it now deals more damage and summons a skeleton.
PROS:
- Summons skeleton
- Has 2 charges
CONS:
- Single target
- Terrible damage
Description: Conjure a cyclone that pierces enemies dealing 90% magic damage and inflicting Static. The cyclone returns once it reaches max distance, circling back towards you and lingering for up to 10s hitting any enemy it passes through.
This Storm ability can be quite handy if you are going for a Static build.
PROS:
- Good Static application
- Short cast time

V Rising 1.0: B-Tier Spells
Description: Raise a bone pile from below that explodes at the target location dealing 140% magic damage in an area and inflicting Condemn.
This Unholy spell can be quite a strong opener when engaging enemies.
PROS:
- Good damage
- Inflicts Condemn
CONS:
- Long cooldown
- Not great Jewel Modifiers
Description: Charge forward and grab an enemy dealing 125% magic damage, and push them in front of you. Deals 120% magic area damage, inflicts Ignite, and inflicts a Stun lasting 1.5s when reaching maximum range or when colliding with another enemy or object.
This Chaos ability can be quite an effective gap closer.
PROS:
- Applies Ignite
- Decent Stun
CONS:
- Long cooldown
- Requires setup to utilize efficiently
Description: Send out a Spectral wolf that bounces to a nearby enemy after each hit, up to 2 additional hits. Deals 125% magic damage on the first hit, subsequent hits deal 85% damage of the previous hit. Each hit inflicts Weaken and grants a stack of Phantasm.
This Illusion spell can be very helpful in difficult fights, especially if you are facing beefy enemies.
PROS:
- Applies Weaken and Phantasm
- Great Jewel Modifiers
CONS:
- Low damage
- Long cooldown
Description: Launch a projectile that deals 75% magic damage, drains 25% health, and inflicts Leech. Heals ally hit for 100% and self for 25% of your spell power. Hitting an enemy affected by Leech consumes the effect and heals you for 5% of your maximum health.
This Blood ability has a lot of utility as it can easily determine the outcome of a fight if you are able to effectively apply it.

V Rising 1.0: A-Tier Spells
Description: Upon activation, hold up a barrier in front of you blocking melee attacks and projectiles. When the barrier is struck, it inflicts 50% magic damage and inflicts Chill. Chilled enemies are Frozen for 4s when hit.
With the Gloomrot update, Frost Magic Abilities are now much stronger as this barrier is a very effective defensive option.
PROS:
- No cast time
- Amazing protection
CONS:
- Low damage
- Limited range
Description: Launch a projectile that deals 90% magic damage and inflicts Static. You and the other target swap locations on impact. If the target is immune to the effect you instead teleport to the location of the target.
This Storm spell can be a lifesaver in do-or-die situations.

- Fantastic utility
- Inflicts Static
CONS:
- Low damage
Description: Drain life from up 3 nearby enemies dealing 70% magic damage, inflicting Condemn, and Leeching 40% health. Cancels any attack the enemy performs, silencing them for 1.5s
This Unholy ability is fantastic at dealing with multiple enemies.
PROS:
- AoE life drain
- Amazing utility
CONS:
- Low damage
Description: Boosts a target ally or self. Increases movement speed by 25%, attack speed by 25% and physical attacks inflict Ignite for 4s.
An amazing Chaos ability that enhances your fighting capabilities.

V Rising 1.0: S-Tier Spells
Description: Block melee and projectile attacks for up to 1.5s. Turn immaterial and travel to the cursor location when an attack is blocked. Passing through an enemy deals 50% magic damage, inflicts Static, and launches the target into the air for 3s.
This Storm spell has different versions for Illusion (Mist Trance) and Blood (Blood Rite) schools of Magic so you can swap them out as you please.
PROS:
- Tons of utility and crowd-control
- Great damage mitigation
CONS:
- Low damage
Description: Summon a spectral mosquito at the target location that explodes after 2 s dealing 70% magic damage and inflicting Weaken and fearing enemies for up to 1.5 s. Grants Phantasm on hit for each enemy hit.
This Illusion spell will most likely be your bread-and-butter option for a Summon build.

- Heavy AoE damage
- Applies Weaken and Phantasm
CONS:
- Can be destroyed without exploding
Description: Summon an orb that explodes at the target location, dealing 90% magic damage and inflicting Ignite and pull enemies towards the center.
This powerful Chaos ability can decimate large groups of enemies.

- Heavy AoE damage
- Applies Ignite and pulls enemies in
CONS:
- None
Description: Summon a curtain of lightning that blocks projectiles for up to 2.5s. Inflicts Static and periodically deals 25% magic damage to enemies that pass through the effect. Applies a fading haste increasing movement speed by 40% for 3s to allies that passes through.
This incredible Storm ability offers a great mix of defensive and offensive power.
