WoW SoD Phase 2 is here, offering a lot of new runes and skillbooks, alongside a new level cap, the Gnomeregan raid dungeon, and the Stranglethorn Vale PvP event, among other features. With these additions, interesting changes are expected for classes and specs. In this article, we'll rank World of Warcraft PvE DPS for Season of Discovery from best to worst.
S-Tier DPS Phase 2
DPS Warlock
Warlocks are very powerful in PvE scenarios, showing off impressive caster damage. While their prowess might not shine as brightly in PvP, their talents significantly boost direct damage spells. Improved mana management helps a lot as well. In raids, their ability to provide Healthstones and curses makes them a must-have addition to raid groups.
DPS Priest
Priests are facing mana issues in Phase 2. This made lots of early predictions for DPS tier list place in D-Tier. Shadow Priests, in particular, have improvements in PvP, but they struggle with single-target damage and lack good performance in dungeon raids. However, DPS Priests popped off in Phase 2, as the chart shows. Pain Suppression is one of the new runes, which sounds promising in PvE situations.
Balance Druid
Balance Druids, similar to Shadow Priests and Retribution Paladins, seem to be stronger in PvP. They were at the bottom of the DPS tier list in SoD Phase 1, because they fell short compared to other classes, but in Phase 2 we see them as one of the most valuable characters. Balance Affinity remains important for Druids, unlocking decent spell damage with Wrath and offering burst potential through Shapeshift. Starsurge is also quite OP now, turning Druids into a great SoD choice.

A Tier
Fire Mage
Mages are amazing in PvE, delivering exceptional AoE damage, with Fire Mages particularly standing out due to scaling buffs from talents like Impact and Improved Scorch. Their crowd control and utility in group scenarios will make them stand out in Phase 2. The Spell Power rune sounds OP, promising 50% increased crit on all spells. However, keep in mind that Frost Mages are still under-performing and should be placed at the bottom of the tier list on their own.
DPS Warrior
Warriors will be OP in SoD Phase 2, delivering amazing damage output and valuable group buffs such as Battle Shout, which boosts health and helps in managing challenging AoE encounters. Their Challenging Shout is very helpful when facing off large groups of enemies. The Rallying Cry rune stands out among the new additions when it comes to PvE, as it gives the whole party a boost to their maximum health.
DPS Rogue
Rogues are a great choice for both PvE and PvP in Phase 2. They have some very useful abilities such as Kidney Shot, and Blade Flurry. Mutilate is very powerful in SoD Phase 2, while Assassination and Combat Rogues, though slightly less optimal, are good alternatives. New SoD runes such as Rolling with the Punches and Waylay sound promising for rogues.
B Tier
Elemental Shaman
Shamans have decent healing, buffs, and damage, offering versatility in many roles. However, Elemental and Enhancement specs fall behind, compared to others on this tier list. Despite receiving a boost with reduced cast times thanks to talents like Elemental Focus, Elemental Shamans are still very mana-dependent, which will turn into a challenge in PvE scenarios. Similarly, Enhancement and Elemental Shamans face problems in raids, because of the absence of Bloodlust and Windfury. Of course, runes such as Ancestral Awakening, sound promising for the whole team.

C Tier
DPS Paladin
Paladins shine in short fights thanks to their burst potential, excelling in AoE scenarios. However, their performance in PvP and PvE falls short. Despite the introduction of new Paladin Runes, the class remains unchanged, lacking new improvements and boosts.
DPS Hunter
In Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, Hunters have great scaling and powerful AoE capabilities. Though they may no longer claim the top spot in raid DPS, they were supposed to be the leaders in SoD PvE according to early predictions, however, this turned out to be false. With great damage output and versatility in handling various mechanics, Hunter was expected to be a top-tier choice for raids. Their high mobility and self-sufficiency just aren't enough. Thanks to the Trap Launcher rune, hunters can now place their traps even during combat, which is a huge change, but still not big enough to boost them to the top of the chart.
D-Tier
Frost Mage
As we already mentioned, Frost Mages are underperforming, especially compared to Fire Mages. They've been stuck in the bottom of the DPS tier list for a while now and this is where we placed them in Phase 1. It seems as if the new runes didn't help them pop off.
We will be updating the WoW SoD Phase 2 DPS Tier List. Stay tuned and enjoy the rest of our World of Warcraft Content.
