Following the great success of World of Warcraft Season of Discovery, Phase 1 was an amazing step from Blizzard to bring new life to a beloved franchise. By implementing new elements such as new class runes that alter your abilities, a new open-world PvP event, and a revamped dungeon turned into a 10-man raid, SoD has received very positive reviews from players.

Although there are still things devs need to polish, overall the fun aspects of WoW were revitalized once more as you could see players socializing and enjoying questing at a much slower but more enjoyable pace.

Since the new Blackfathom Deeps raid was greatly received, Blizzard is looking to move forward with this concept of making small raid-like environments for players to try out as they prepare for the late-game content that will become available further down the road.

WoW SoD Phase 2 Gnomeregan Raid

As per a recent tweet by one of the lead devs for Season of Discovery, Josh Greenfield asked the community whether they would like for the raid to be released a week later when Phase 2 launches.

Open question; should we delay the launch of the Gnomeregan 10-player raid by a week or just have it be open from day one of Phase 2? Why do you feel the way you do? Just trying to get a pulse check and some opinions to read. Thanks!

(Note: I'm not going to answer any other p2 questions in this thread, sorry).

Of course, a lot of players were quick to share feedback regarding the upcoming launch of Phase 2 on February 8th, 2024. Since it was confirmed that the new raid will be similar to what we have in Phase 1, we can expect this trend to continue for the next phases of Season of Discovery as well.

A lot of players have been speculating whether Blizzard will also release a revamped Scarlet Monastery raid as Gnomeregan is situated deep into Alliance territory. Given how iconic the instances are for many-a-veteran players, it would be a nice surprise to also have an additional raiding option during Phase 2 of SoD.

Although the probability of Scarlet Monastery becoming a raid is very low, all of the provided feedback around end-game content serves as a great way for Blizzard to gauge how to implement and improve ideas within Season of Discovery.

All in all, we are still waiting for more information to be shared by the devs as people are starting to prepare for Phase 2 in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery. The resounding approval of the community for this enhanced version of WoW Classic has set a precedent that Blizzard still has the passion and dedication to making quality games and delivering on promises and expectations as the company is taking a major shift to its glory days.
