The next World of Warcraft update for The War Within will feature new classes available to the Dracthyr race. Ever since the ancient race of humanoid dragonkin were first introduced in the Dragonflight expansion, only Evokers were available.
But it seems Blizzard is looking into expanding the roster of available classes so more players can create their own draconic characters. We will take a look at the recent announcement from the devs and what we can expect in the next patch for The War Within.

The War Within New Dracthyr Classes
In the upcoming patch for The War Within, players will be able to create new Dracthyr characters and choose from any of these classes:
- Hunter
- Rogue
- Priest
- Mage
- Warrior
- Warlock
You will also be able to choose between fighting as a Dracthyr or in Visage form, although Evokers will still remain in Dracthyr form due to their abilities that highlight their draconic nature.

The War Within Dracthyr and Evoker Changes
Blizzard will also make some adjustments to the racials of the Dracthyr and some Evoker changes as well.
Dracthyr Racials
- Tail Swipe cooldown has been increased to 3 minutes (was 1.5 minutes).
- Wing Buffet cooldown has been increased to 3 minutes (was 1.5 minutes). It now displays wing effects around your character if you use it while in Visage form.
- Tail Swipe and Wing Buffet no longer automatically shift you into Dracthyr form for all classes except Evoker.
Evoker
- Clobbering Sweep reduces Tail Swipe’s cooldown by 2 minutes (was 45 seconds).
- Heavy Wingbeats reduces Wing Buffet cooldown by 2 minutes (was 45 seconds).
- Permeating Chill is now baseline for Evoker.
- Heavy Wingbeats and Clobbering Sweep are no longer a choice node, and their position has changed in the class tree.

The War Within New Dracthyr Skyriding Talent
Dracthyr players will also be able to learn a new Skyriding talent called Squadron in which up to two additional Dracthyr players can join you to fly in formation as you soar through the skies.
This is a nice quality-of-life feature that will allow you to team up with your mates and do content together and make the experience more enjoyable as you take in the beautiful scenery of the world.
And that covers all of the important changes coming for the Dracthyr race in World of Warcraft. It seems Blizzard has been cooking so hopefully they continue this trend and bring even more amazing features to the game. You can check out the official announcement, here.
