WoW TWW Season 2 - Best Mage Crafted Gear

With the new season for The War Within now live, players are rushing to get the best available gear for their specs, and not only are there multiple sources of acquiring new items, but the devs have also provided some very suitable options for crafted gear.

With that being said, we will go over the best choices for Mages and the embellishments to use. This guide should serve as a basic introduction for players coming into Season 2 as to which items they should prioritize as they progress into raiding and Mythic+.

Mage Crafted Gear & Embellishments

NOTE: Although this is not a fully-fledged BiS list, we will only take a look at the best crafted items you get.

As always, using Droptimizer to pick out good upgrades is the most surefire way to gear up your character as fast as possible. 

Arcane

Best Crafted Gear

• Vagabond's Bounding Baton
• Non-Tier Low ilvl item

Best Embellishments

• Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
• Writhing Armor Banding
• Duskthread Lining

1. As with most cases, crafting a weapon early-on is your best way of ensuring optimal DPS, especially when paired with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension.
2. Go for an item that does not conflict with your tier pieces, so you can add the Writhing Armor Banding embellishment.

Fire

• Vagabond's Bounding Baton
• Consecrated Cloak 

Best Embellishments

• Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
• Writhing Armor Banding
• Duskthread Lining

1. Getting a 2H with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension can be quite efficient in terms of using up crests early on into the season. 
2. Afterwards, you can either go for Consecrated Cloak or any other non-tier piece so you can slot in a Writhing Armor Banding.
3. If you have Engineering, you can also go for a Studious Brilliance Expeditor while you still don't have your 4-piece tier bonus active.

Frost

• Vagabond's Bounding Baton
• Non-Tier Low ilvl item

Best Embellishments

• Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
• Writhing Armor Banding
• Dawnthread Lining

1. Make use of Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension if you have a good weapon like Charged Hexsword or Vagabond's Bounding Baton. If you lack a proper off-hand, then Vagabond's Torch is a nice filler item. 
2. Right after that, any armor piece with the Writhing Armor Banding should be on your to-do list.
