Zenless Zone Zero’s pre-release livestream just ended, and it was an amazing experience that revealed new content and features that will be coming to the game with its release next week on July 4th.
In this article, we’ll quickly summarize what we thought were the major points in the live stream so you know what to expect.
Table of Contents
Skip Button
It is finally here! During the first parts of the stream, the developers announced that Zenless Zone Zero will have a SKIP function for those who do not wish to experience the story and want to enjoy the game’s combat.
This is quite unusual for HoYoverse, but we view this as a step in the right direction, and we can’t wait to see how this will translate to the future.

New Characters
The livestream announced that two new characters from a completely new faction will join the game after the release. These two new characters are:
- Piper
- Lucy
These two will join the game as part of the Sons of Calydon Faction, which is all about having fun. Not a lot of information was revealed about these new characters. We currently do not know their rarities, but we do know the following:
- Lucy: Fire Attribute Support Agent
- Piper: Physical Attribute with Anomaly Specialty

New Mode
During the livestream, the developers announced a new mode known as [Hollow Zero].
This new mode will be a permanent roguelike game mode. Given that roguelike games work by giving your characters ridiculous boosts that make them quite overpowered as time goes on, we can expect to have a ton of fun with this mode.
And if it’s anything like the Simulated Universe and Divergent Universe in Honkai: Star Rail, then we might end up spending a lot of time there.
The new mode will be set in a completely new open zone known as [Scott Outpost], which is made specially for Hollow Zero.

Bangboo Banner Changes
The Bangboo banner is a special banner that is only present in Zenless Zone Zero that allows players to pull for Bangboos, little AI companions that can assist you in combat.
Previously, the Bangboo banner would have a 50/50% chance of getting your desired Bangboo, but after listening to player feedback, the developers decided to scrap that idea, and now the Bangboo banner has a 100% chance of giving you the Bangboo you’ve chosen.

During the final part of the livestream, it was announced that players would be able to get up to 100 free pulls and 80 Boopons. The 100 free pulls can be used on character and weapon banners, while the Boopons can be used on the Bangboo Banner to pull for your desired Bangboo!

Summary
All in all, the livestream revealed quite a few things and did the job of hyping us up for the game. There were various other things revealed during the livestream, which we won’t go into details about today, but if you’re curious, those include a new interactive system with the Agents, an explanation in regards to the game’s exploration, and several mentions that the content that will be available at release is twice as much as what was available in the last closed beta.
Overall, this was a great livestream that let us get a sneak peek into the game and prepare for ZZZ's release next week.
