Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 - Recap

The last time we saw Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), she was left alone in the pipeworks of Zaun after Caitlyn (Ella Purnell) hit her in the stomach with a weapon. This reaction wasn't particularly surprising, especially considering that Vi prevented her from killing and capturing Jinx once again, even after promising that she wouldn't ever do that again.

Even though she says it wasn't about saving Jinx, but Isha, who was trying to protect her, Caitlyn doesn't seem to agree that she might have missed the shot. It's safe to say that their relationship was done at the end of Episode 4, and that's why the beginning of the next one is so exciting. Let's take a look!

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 Blisters & Bedrock

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5, titled Blisters and Bedrock, starts with a bang. With ZAND's Cocktail Molotov playing in the background, we see Vi looking at herself in the mirror, her hair black and her face covered in pitch-black mascara. The scene is followed by a quick sequence showing Vi's new life - going to the fighting pits, winning, getting drunk, sleeping, and repeating. And all of this only to forget Caitlyn, whose face haunts her no matter where she goes.

She ends up shattering the mirror in her room, and after one more of her usual adventures, she gets woken up by Jinx. She grabs her by the throat and tells her that she doesn't want to see her or hear her talk ever again. However, Jinx is determined to let Vi know that Vander is still alive. Vi doesn't believe her sister at first, but after she promises to prove it, they embark on a journey together to find Vander.

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 Mel & Ambessa

In the meantime, Ambessa is looking at her visor, which was ruined by Warwick's giant claws. When Caitlyn arrives, she goes down to the cell block level and takes a look at the consequences of the jailbreak, along with Ambessa, until they eventually find Singed in his cell. Caitlyn starts questioning him, and Ambessa supports her claim that it was him who summoned the beast. Even after Caitlyn threatens him with extreme incarceration, he refuses to answer any questions. Caitlyn promises that he'll rot in that cell and leaves with Ambessa.

At the same time, Mel wakes up on a stone floor, and the most prominent memory in her head is that of countless black rose vines kidnapping her. Then she sees Elora getting killed by the same vines, and when she fully wakes up, she hears the voice of another prisoner. The man tells her that they're trapped in an Oculorum, which works like a prison for false prophets. When Mel takes a good look at the man, she realizes that that's her brother, Kino, who she thought was dead.

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 The Reunion

Jinx, Isha, and Vi explore the underground tunnel together, and Jinx is determined to show Vi that she isn't tricking her and that Vander is actually alive. Vi doesn't believe her, and as they are clapping their hands to activate the luminescent bulges in the walls, she tells her that this is probably another one of her delusions. They start arguing, and the argument turns into a physical fight. Isha comes to Jinx's rescue one more time and bites Vi. The mutual concern for the kid stops the fight between the sisters, and they keep moving through the tunnel.

Suddenly they hear a weird noise, and they know that the monster is coming. Jinx is aware that this is Vander, but Vi is ready to fight again. When the creature appears, she starts throwing punches immediately while Jinx is telling her to have faith that this is Vander. Vi lets go and waits for the final strike without fighting back, and a split second before things go wrong, she yells Vander's name and we get transported into one of his memories - him, Vi's mother, and Silco in the bar.

Felicia tells them that she's pregnant, and they all agree that Vander and Silco need to create a world where children can grow without being worried about their own survival. That's when they toast to 'Zaun. Blisters and Bedrock.' Back in the present, when the smoke clears, we witness one of the most endearing reunions in the story - Jinx, Vi, and Vander - a family once again. Oh, did we forget Isha? Don't worry, she's part of the hug just as much as the rest of the characters.

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 Puzzles & Traps

The Oculorum isn't the most entertaining place, so Mel and Kino spend their time catching up. Soon he tells her that he discovered rumors about Ambessa having a child that inherited something the Black Rose Order wants, which is also the reason why he was imprisoned. Mel tries to save both of them by solving the puzzle on the wall, but when Kino's voice distorts, she realizes that he isn't her real brother. She smashes his head against the wall, and she goes back to the black and red space.

However, this time she's the one in chains. The voice explains how they found her, but her eyes begin to glow, and she blasts the chains apart with a golden light. Ambessa, Singed, and Caitlyn have a conversation leading to the fact that Singed was the one who invented Shimmer. When he explains why he created the substance, Caitlyn, Ambessa, and all the viewers finally understand that he did it for the purest reason - love.

Arcane Season 2 Episode 5 The End

A white-hooded figure takes the Hex power cell contaminated with Arcane, and once they approach the exit, a barrier appears, and Jayce drops on the floor. He has grown a beard, and his hair is way longer compared to the last time we saw him. There's a Hex crystal in his wrist, and he's holding his giant hammer. When the figure takes off the robe, we see Salo. However, he has Viktor's voice.

He explains that he's given HexTech to the people like they always talked about doing. Unfortunately, Jayce is convinced that their inventions need to be destroyed. When Salo tries to return to Viktor, Jayce doesn't let him and smashes him with his Battle Hammer. Have fun and stay tuned; the best is yet to come!
