Ever since the release of Arcane Season 1, fans from all over the world have been captivated by the impressive graphics and thrilling story of the show. The best news is that you don't even have to be a fan of League of Legends to enjoy the plot and have the best experience possible.

However, Netflix and Riot Games have already put an end to their collaboration as far as Arcane is concerned, and to say that the viewers are disappointed would be an understatement. In this article, we'll answer the most important questions about Arcane Season 3, including why it ended after Season 2. Let's get started!

Arcane's Future

Arcane is based on the game League of Legends, and it explores the story of two sisters who find themselves on different sides of the same war. Season 2 of Arcane was released in November 2024, and in the span of just a few days, it has gathered an even bigger fan base than the first season. Moreover, the show was one of the best marketing strategies that Riot Games could have come up with.

It presents a part of the complicated lore of League of Legends in an accessible and entertaining way. Unfortunately, Netflix released an official update on the series, saying that there won't be a third season - not now and not in the future either. Although fans are now posting their comments on multiple platforms, stating that they are more than disappointed, the co-founder of Riot, Marc Merrill, was crystal clear: no more Arcane.

Arcane Season 3 won't happen, but the truth is that it wasn't canceled. Now, this is no reason to be happy, because there's no chance for the producers to change their opinions in the future. According to the official statement, there was a misunderstanding between the audience and the producers, and the show was never intended to be longer than the two seasons we already saw. Here's what the producer, Christian Linke, had to say on the matter:

From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell.

The good news is that if we judge by the performance the developers and producers pulled together with Arcane, we can expect some really great things for all the promised upcoming stories from the League of Legends lore. Moreover, many fans share the opinion that the creators simply wanted to keep Arcane shorter and not milk it all the way until it gets ruined, so maybe having only two seasons isn't that bad after all.
