With the long-awaited release of this action RPG, Black Myth: Wukong has taken players by storm given the incredibly detailed and beautiful visuals, coupled with intricate and fun gameplay. Not only has the gaming community provided overwhelming praise and feedback, but it seems that the newest Chinese mythology souls-like has set a precedent for all other major competitors in this sphere.

Having that in mind, we will go over all of the best skills you need to take to ensure that you smoothly progress through the game and start quickly defeating the many bosses that stand in your way. Being the Destined One comes with a price, but with this simple guide, you will ensure victory in all of your encounters.

How Skills Work in Black Myth: Wukong

To unlock skills, you will need to gather Sparks which are acquired through leveling up. You can locate the skills menu under the Self-Advance tab of the main menu. 

Skills are split between Abilities that cover your Foundation Skills and Staff Stances, whereas Spells consist of Mysticism, Alterations, Strand, and Transformations. 

Since we will mainly focus on the best early-game skills, we will only take into account all of the available choices at the start of your run, namely Foundation, Staff Stances, and Mysticism since the other tabs will become available later down the line. We will now go over all of the three core early-game skill tabs.

Black Myth: Wukong Best Foundation Skills

You can see that you have three separate nodes in the Foundation tab, namely Stamina, Martial Arts, and Survival. We will now go over all of the best skills you can unlock in this tab:

Foundation Skills

 

Simian Agility

• Stamina Skill
• Description: Each talent level moderately reduces the Stamina cost of Dodging

 

Robust Constitution

• Survival Skill
• Description: Each talent level moderately increases Maximum Health

 

Rampant Vigor

• Survival Skill
• Description: Each talent level moderately increases Maximum Stamina

 

Effortless Finisher

• Martial Arts Skill
• Description: Grants more Focus when the second move of Light Attack Combo hits an enemy

 

Punishing Downpour

• Martial Arts Skill
• Description: After six successful hits with the first four moves of Light Attack Combo, Light Attack Finisher deals extra area Damage

 

Composure

• Stamina Skill
• Description: Dodging no longer interrupts Light Attack Combo. This also applies to Perfect Dodges

There are three separate nodes in the Staff Stances tab, namely Smash Stance, Pillar Stance, and Thrust Stance. Staff Stances will help you with your damage and combos so you can more efficiently defeat your enemies without sacrificing too much Stamina during your fights. Resolute Counterflow

• Smash Stance Skill
• Description: Performing Heavy Attack during Light Attack Combo with a Focus Point consumed, allows the Destined One to execute Resolute Strike. During Resolute Strike, the Destined One can see through the incoming enemy attacks and nullify their damage. Enemies that have been seen through are easier to stagger

 

Skyfall Strike

• Smash Stance Skill
• Description: After a successful hit with Resolute Strike, performing another Heavy Attack consuming a Focus Point executes Skyfall Strike. The Destined One leverages his forward momentum, launching himself into the air with his staff to somersault forward, then unleashes a firm downward strike upon his enemy's head

 

Invigoration

• Smash Stance Skill
• Description: Grants massive Focus upon seeing through and hitting the enemy with Resolute Strike

 

Exhilaration

• All Stances Skill
• Description: Each talent level slightly increases the Health recovery upon consuming a Focus Point

 

Versatility 

• All Stance Skill
• Description: Each talent level slightly increases Damage dealt by all Varied Combos

Black Myth: Wukong Mysticism Best Skills

Mysticism has one of the first spells you will unlock early into Black Myth: Wukong - Immobilize. It will improve your Immobilize duration and also increase the damage you deal. We will now go over all of the best skills you can unlock in this tab:

Mysticism Skills

 

Stagnation

• Immobilize Skill
• Description: Hitting an immobilized enemy with Light Attack slightly extends the duration of the next immobilization inflicted on them. This effect can stack up to 5 times.

 

Evanescence

• Immobilize Skill
• Description: When the enemy is immobilized the moment they attack, extends the immobilization duration and massively increases the Damage the enemy takes

 

Raging Flames

• Ring of Fire Skill
• Description: Generates additional Focus every second while within Ring of Fire

 

Consolidation

• Ring of Fire Skill
• Description: Standing within the Ring of Fire slowly recovers Health.
