The Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 not only brings new content to try out, such as the Spiritborn class, Mercenaries, and a new campaign, but it also made significant changes to how the game works overall. One of these changes is the new stat squish, which greatly reduced and adjusted many of the different stats, as well as their caps, making the numbers much more sensible. This, however, has left many players wondering how much armor and resistances they need in order to reach the cap and prevent dying in higher difficulties. In this article, we are going to go over the armor and resistance caps in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred.

The armor cap in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is currently 1,000. Upon reaching this cap, you will not receive any further damage reduction benefits unless you have a specific power or skill that continues to scale past this threshold. At 1,000 armor, you will receive an 85% reduction to any incoming physical damage in the game, making armor one of the most important stats. Keep in mind that the new Torment difficulties will reduce your armor by 250 per level, meaning you will realistically need 2,000 armor to reach the actual cap for the endgame. Be sure to use Skulls in your jewelry's sockets to make this much easier to reach, and you can also benefit from some Elixirs if you're slightly short of the cap.

In Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, the maximum amount of resistance you can have for every element (Fire, Lightning, Cold, Poison, and Shadow) is 70%. Reaching this cap is crucial, as many of the monsters in the endgame deal elemental damage, with poison being particularly dangerous. This cap can be increased to 85% through special items, such as Tyrael's Might, allowing you to be much tankier overall. Going up in Torment difficulties will also lower your resistances, with a 25% reduction per tier. This means you will need to find 170% total resistances to hit the cap on Torment 4. Be sure to Masterwork all of your jewelry, and remember that Gems and Elixirs can help you reach the finish line.

That covers everything you need to know about the new armor and resistance caps in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. Hopefully, this guide has helped you find the true values so you can min-max your character and progress through the new Torment difficulties in Season 6.
