Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is finally here, bringing the new Spiritborn class, the jungles of Nahantu, the continuation of the main story campaign, and much more content for players to grind through. Even though players now have the option to try out many new endgame modes, such as the Undercity of Kurast, the Dark Citadel, and Infernal Hordes, one of the best systems for farming remains the Helltides. A few seasons ago, Helltides were reworked to be much more rewarding and densely packed with enemies, featuring a threat system that provides many more monsters to defeat.
Since this threat level system is also an objective in the 'Notarized Nuisance' Seasonal Journey chapter, we are going to explain how it works and how you can use it to earn even more rewards in Diablo 4 Season 6!

How Does Helltide Threat Level Work in Vessel of Hatred
A few seasons ago, Helltides underwent a major overhaul, adding new mechanics to make the experience more engaging. One key addition is the Threat mechanic, represented by a bar located in the top-right corner of your screen, just below your Cinder count. This bar fills up as you defeat tougher monsters and open Tortured Gifts. There are three Threat Levels, and with each level, the likelihood of being ambushed increases, while the enemies that spawn become significantly more dangerous.
Once the bar is completely filled, you’ll be Hell-Marked, triggering ambushes from multiple waves of enemies. The Threat level will gradually decrease until it resets. If you survive the onslaught, a powerful Elite called a Hellborne will appear, offering the chance for enhanced rewards. However, be cautious - if you die at any point during the Helltide, your Threat level will reset back to zero.
Making use of the Threat system is going to make your Helltides much more rewarding, and you will also be able to complete your 'Notarized Nuisance' Season Journey chapter.
That is everything you need to know about the Threat system in the reworked Helltide events in Diablo 4. With this feature in place, you are going to find Helltides much more dense with monsters, making them one of the most rewarding mechanics of Season 6.
