You will need to defeat two of the strongest bosses in Elden Ring to be able to access the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC content. You will need to bring down Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord Of Blood so you can get the opportunity to dive into The Land of Shadow.

Both of these bosses can be quite tricky, especially if you are a beginner, however, the Elden Ring community has tons of great builds and advice so you shouldn't worry if you just want to jump into the action. With that in mind, we will go over all of the basics you need to know about these two bosses as well as what you will need to accomplish to be able to play the new DLC content.

Defeat Starscourge Radahn

Starscourge Radahn is one of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring, however, defeating him will yield you great rewards. You can reach the boss by going through a portal located at the end of Redmane Castle in Caelid.

NOTE: The boss can be seen only when the Radahn Festival is active. Here are all of the ways you can trigger it:

  • Activating any Altus Plateau Site of Grace (The Sites of Grace within Volcano Manor don't count, so in order to activate the festival from the Raya Lucaria teleport you must defeat either the Abductor Virgins or Rykard).
  • Informing Blaidd about Radahn in Siofra River (This requires Ranni's questline).
  • Talking to Iji about Jerren (This also requires Ranni's questline).

You will need to be at least level 70 so you will need to grind a lot before you can face him. Luckily, his demise will reward you with 70,000 Runes as well as Remembrance of the Starscourge, and Radahn's Great Rune. The boss is weak to Hemorrhage, Scarlet Rot, and Pierce damage. Once you defeat him, you will need to move on to the much stronger Mohg, Lord Of Blood.

Defeat Mohg, Lord Of Blood

Once Starscourge Radahn has fallen, you will need to prepare for Mohg, Lord Of Blood. Located at the end of the Mohgwyn Palace, near the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpont Site of Grace. You can access the instance by using either of the following methods:

  • Use the teleporter in the west of the Consecrated Snowfield
  • Use the Pureblood Knight's Medal given at the end of White Mask Varré's quest.

Be wary of the many perils you will face whilst navigating the dungeon. It is recommended that you are at least level 100 so you will need to grind a lot more before you take him on head-on. Luckily, his defeat will reward you with a whopping 420,000 Runes as well as Remembrance of the Blood Lord, and Mohg's Great Rune. The boss is weak to Hemorrhage, Gravity Magic, and Physical damage.

Once you have defeated both of the bosses, you will be able to touch the arm hanging out of the bloodied cocoon on Mohg's throne. This arm belongs to the demigod Miquella, brother of the infamous boss Malenia, Hand of Miquella

Given how the new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will have you explore the story of Miquella, players will be sucked into The Land of Shadow to continue their adventure and face new foes, wield mighty weapons and defeat even more difficult and rage-inducing bosses all whilst basking in the beautiful and haunting imagery that await you.

And that covers everything we know so far about how you can gain access to the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Best of luck conquering The Land of Shadow and may the RNG Gods be ever in your favor, Tarnished!
