Fortnite is adding two new control features that will become the new reason for family disputes across the world. Parents will now find it easier to manage their child's Fortnite hours, and children will be forced to find other games to entertain themselves with until the grace of their parents shines on their small little foreheads. Read on to learn more about the control features, and if you're a parent, sit back - we've got your tired, sore back.

Fortnite Announces Time Limit and Time Report Feature

In an official blog post, Epic introduced two new parental controls: Time Limit Controls and Time Reports. The updated controls will allow parents and guardians to monitor and regulate the amount of time their child spends on Fortnite and Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). By enabling this parental control, parents can:

  • Set a daily time limit for their child's playtime.
  • Select specific periods each day when their child is allowed to play and set limits within those periods.
  • Decide whether to let their child request additional playtime as they near the end of their limit.

When a parent establishes a time limit, the child will receive in-game notifications when they have 30 minutes remaining in Fortnite and UEFN. After reaching the time limit, the child won't be able to access Fortnite or UEFN until the next day or the start of a new play window, unless the parent grants additional time.

We see the incentive behind Epic's dedication to flesh out parental control, as this is not the first such upgrade to Fortnite. Some of the previously integrated parental controls include voice control and, what we'd consider the most important one, purchase control. You wouldn't want to wake up to a $15,000 skin purchase your child made with your account.
