Valve has been cooking for quite some time, and it looks like we can now finally try out the long-awaited MOBA shooter game called Deadlock. The titans of gaming are looking to put their own spin on the MOBA genre by integrating mechanics and design ideas from Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and many other staples.

Deadlock has taken players by storm given how much positive feedback and reviews it has garnered, despite being in its early development stages. With that being said, we will take a look at how you can try and playtest Valve's newest game.

What is Deadlock?

Deadlock is Valve's newest game looking to fill in the void left by Epic Games' Paragon. Deadlock is a 6v6 MOBA-styled third-person shooter with creep denial similar to Dota 2 and 4 different lanes where players need to push in troops to defeat the enemy base (Patron).

Players will need to collect souls as a primary resource to purchase upgrades for their characters by farming creeps, killing opponents, defeating neutral objectives, and taking down enemy structures. Each character has 4 distinct abilities, similar to most MOBAs. The game currently has 21 heroes to choose from and with players sinking up to 1,000 hours, there is certainly tons of fun to be had in its current state.

The game has received lots of praise due to its smart design choices coupled with a fun and rewarding game philosophy seeking to encourage team play, whilst emphasizing positioning rather than only accurate aim. The damage fall-off is also incredibly well-designed, allowing players to make full use of their kit.
