In this article, we will take a look at the most popular ranked champion picks across all ranks and regions in patch 14.12. We will see which champs are preferred by the LoL community. We will also discuss which champions are getting banned the most in the current patch. This will indicate which picks are considered 'too OP' to play against.

Commentary and Takeaways

Caitlyn

Cait
Riot

Caitlyn has been having a great time ever since Season 14 started. She has amazing range and burst, able to make a lot of players rage quit due to her poke. Caitlyn just feels good in this meta, and she's an absolutely wonderful champion. Her high ban rate is also explained by her high pick rate.

Kai'Sa & Ezreal

Ezreal
Riot

Kai'Sa has been missing from the meta for a while, but she has returned, similar to Ezreal. We wouldn't call them strong picks, though. There's more of a nostalgic feeling towards them. Both ADCs were fan favorites that were pretty bad for a few patches, and now that they're back to being decent, a lot of people want to play them again.

Lux

Lux
Riot

Lux is a wonderful champion who can be quite annoying to play against. She's super versatile and reliable right now, both as a midlaner and support.

Ahri

The Hall of Legends skins have been released with patch 14.12, and they're quite controversial. There are no changes to Ahri herself; she's still a good midlaner, nothing OP, but the spike in interest is due to the skin release. Do you know what else is due to her new skins? The ban rate. Ahri is not a champion to ban right now, judging by her performance, but League of Legends players are making a statement about the insane prices of her skins. You can read more about the Ahri Perma Ban Boycott here.

Blitzcrank & Morgana

Blitz
Riot

Blitzcrank and Morgana will always be OP support picks for ranked as they strike fear in the bot lane. Pick them up if you can; you won't regret it. They're truly a menace, and they have such a high ban rate for a reason. Morgana is viable in the mid-lane as well, so if you're a support and playing her, maybe consider a ban.

Yasuo & Zed

Yasuo
Riot

Ah, Yasuo... One of Riot's favorite children, judging by the fact that after all these years they haven't addressed his constantly high ban rate in low elo. You know how it goes: The Yasuo on your team goes 0/20/0 while the Yasuo on the other team goes 20/0/0. The same thing goes for Zed - he's not even that good in the current meta, but something about him strikes fear in LoL players.

There you have it - the most popular and most avoided champions in patch 14.12. We'll keep an eye on these League of Legends champion stats for you, so tune back in soon!
