When you level up your allies in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you'll unlock stronger skills, more Synthesis abilities, and get more HP & MP per character, as well as explore different special Archetype lineages. Basically, if you want to progress in the game, you need to make sure to level up all your characters as soon as you can. Here are the best ways to farm EXP through all stages of your game.

Spawn Camp Weak Enemies

The game has a useful reset system that lets you enter an area, clear it, then exit and re-enter to have the enemies respawn, and you can do this as many times as you like! If you pick an area that spawns weak enough mobs, you can level up your characters relatively easily. You can tell the weak enemies apart by using Fae Sight; the foes who are below your level will glow in a blue light.

For your convenience, we've also listed a few weak enemies that you can fight for maximum EXP gain:

  • Watchdog Hundo in Regalith Cathedral—one of the easiest groups of enemies to kill, good to farm for early game stages.
  • Goborn in the Belega Corridor Dungeon—spawns in the last two floors where the Grotesque Guptauros boss is located.
  • Sandworms and Hyenos in the Tradia Dessert—these overworld enemies are easy enough to farm EXP with.
  • Blue Elmenta in Regalith Cathedral - this unit might try to escape, but once you lock them down and defeat them, they drop a lot of MAG & EXP.

Strive for Unscathed Triumph

If you manage to get out of a Squad Battle without taking damage, you'll receive the Unscathed Triumph Bonus, which increases your rewards! This is a guaranteed way to farm for any resource in the game, as long as you only fight weak enough bosses and plan your raids out well. Not only that but if you manage to get the Unscathed Triumph Bonus enough times, you'll get a Trophy!

Trance Crystal

The Trance Crystal is located in Regalith Cathedral, and as long as it's not destroyed, it will spawn enemies you can conveniently farm for EXP, MAG, and other handy resources and items. Watch the crystal's health; if it drops too low, wait it out at a nearby Rest Area. As the Trance Crystal will keep spawning enemies, watch out for enemies trying to get you from the back. Sometimes long-range attacking foes can reach you from places out of your sight.

Know Your Archetypes

It's in your best interest to know what kind of skills each Archetype can use in combat, as that's your key to the Unscathed Triumph Bonus. Try to stun enemies and give them no chances to complete a turn before you exhaust their HP & MP. Research which Synthesis abilities work best for wiping off enemies quickly.
