Once Human offers plenty of opportunities for upgrades to increase your chances of surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, and one of them is creating a build for the Burn effect.
This is hands-down the best way to passively melt health bars with almost no downtime, and it's the only DOT-based effect in Once Human so far. Although Burn builds aren't very complicated, it's better to use a guide than waste your time trying to figure out the right modules, armor, and Deviants. Let's get started!

Once Human Best Burn Build
It's important to note that this build will focus on stacking Burn and improving damage output. It is particularly useful for wiping out waves of enemies due to the high ammo capacity and passive effects that cause targets to explode and spread Burn. Here is how to arrange all the necessary items in the slots.
Slot | Item | Module |
Primary Weapon | KVD Boom Boom | Blaze Blessing |
Secondary Weapon | KAM Crank | Flame Resonance |
Helmet | Heavy Duty | Deviation Expert |
Mask | Heavy Duty | Blaze Amplifier |
Chest | Heavy Duty | Any |
Gloves | Grill Gloves | Elemental Overload |
Pants | Scout | Status Amplification |
Boots | Scout | Secluded Strike |
The KAM is very good for fighting bosses because it's consistent and non-RNG-reliant. In order to unleash the full potential of the Crank, simply equip a Rapid Shot Style calibration to increase its fire rate by 15% and the reload speed by 40%.

Once Human Best Burn Build Armor
If you have already gathered enough Starchrom, don't hesitate to use the Wish Machine to get the Shelterer armor set. This is a Premium Status/Elemental DMG set that aims to increase the damage of Burn ticks by hitting enemies. Here are the effects of each piece:
Armor Piece | Effects |
Grill Gloves |
|
Heavy Duty |
|
Scout |
|
Although it isn't mandatory to collect every fragment from the Shelterer armor set, keep in mind that Once Human will grant all effects only if you have the full outfit. You can also replace the Grill Gloves with Hardy Gloves if you want to, because they can trigger explosions upon reaching Max Burn stacks.

Once Human Best Burn Build Modules
With these Modules at max stack, you will be able to deal 80% of your PSI Intensity with each Burn tick. This estimation does not include additional damage bonuses. Here are all the Modules that can make you unstoppable and their effects.
Module | Location | Effect |
Blaze Blessing | Ravenous Hunter |
|
Flame Resonance | Ravenous Hunter |
|
Deviation Expert | Silo Alpha |
|
Blaze Amplifier | Silo EX1 |
|
Elemental Overload | Silo Sigma |
|
Status Amplification | Silo PSI |
|
Secluded Strike | Silo PSI |
|
Blaze Blessing will help you immensely against groups of enemies since it reduces your chances of getting killed by almost 100%, unless there is a monster so powerful that it can one-shot you. If a very strong enemy approaches you, switch to your KAM Crank and keep fighting. Usually, the Burn effect has a stack cap of 5, but in this case, it can go up to 8.

Once Human Best Burn Build Combat Deviant
The Pyro Dino is basically the same as the Chefosaurus Deviant, but this is the combat version. You can find it in the Greywater Industrial Zone, and its Securements are High Temperature and Electricity.
This Deviant is perfect for Burn builds since it can buff your Blaze DMG by 19.6%. It also has a chance of inflicting the Burn effect on enemies by itself, and if you have forgotten to target an enemy for it to attack, it will do that autonomously.

Once Human Best Burn Build Cradle Season 1
