Where to Get Coal in Palworld?
Coal spawns primarily in Palworld's desert biome situated along the northern region of the map. Recognizable by its dark black coloration, coal blends into cliff faces and canyon walls. It generates near other coal nodes in small clumps of 4-5 minerals.
Having a flying mount makes scouting deposit locations faster. Also, craft heat resistance armor before entering the desert. Clear inventory space to haul mined coal south.

How to Mine Coal in Palworld?
A metal pickaxe (or stronger) is highly recommended for mining coal, as lower tier tools take absurdly long. Bring spare pickaxes as durability drains rapidly with coal's hardness.
The mountain peak near the PIDF Tower contains several close coal nodes, perfect for rapid farming. Glide down after mining to a cave below housing a Black Marketeer with a coal node inside
