Pokémon GO: To The Max! Bug Reports

Players started reporting a glitch they encountered while completing their streaks for To The Max! Special Research.

I was doing this in the last few hours. I’d completed the power spot section, and the Max particle section, and collected them, but when my “Explore 5 km” actually HIT 5km, instead of completing, it reset THE ENTIRE RESEARCH back to 0 progress, including getting Willow’s whole spiel recited to me all over again.

Having your research bar restart without counting your 5 km must be frustrating, and Niantic have since started working on a bug fix after several players reported the same glitch.

Trainers, we appreciate the feedback and inquiries regarding the reset issue with the "To the Max!" Special Research. We are currently investigating this issue and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

The glitch doesn't impact everyone so you might never encounter it, but it can make for a frustrating start to this season if you do, unless you avoid the research path entirely for now. At least we know Niantic is working on it and we might get to see a fix soon.
