Should You Pull for Fugue?

This piece will go over my opinions on whether Fugue is worth your Stellar Jade and if you should consider pulling for her.

Well, well, well, Tingyun is finally back, and this time she’s shinier and has a new element and a new path, but while that may be the case, she still functions as a support unit at her core. The new Tingyun, or rather, Fugue, is a powerful 5-star Nihility character that any Break Effect DPS unit would love to have on their team. She is an amazing support that unleashes the true potential of Break Effect teams, helping them reach new heights and finally allowing you to use the Harmony Trailblazer on other teams. And while everything seems all nice, the question still remains if you should pull for her.

Is Fugue Strong?

Yes, Fugue is strong. While she does not deal as much damage as your typical main DPS, Fugue’s strengths lie in helping allies deal more damage. She does this by incorporating a new Exo Toughness mechanic that is tied to her talent, which lets her teammates break enemies twice, thus greatly boosting the team’s damage output. In addition, she can also reduce enemy DEF and allow for a Super Break to occur just by existing, which makes her a monster for any Break Team.

That being said, Fugue can only be used in break teams. Apart from her DEF-reducing abilities, Fugue falls short for almost any team due to mostly buffing Break Effect and Break DMG. While this is great for characters like Boothill, Rappa, or Firefly, it is completely useless for other DPS units that focus on building CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. While Break Team is currently the meta and will likely remain powerful for quite some time, they will likely fall off after the release of Version 3.0 and the introduction of the Remembrance Path, which is expected to shift the meta towards summons rather than Break DMG. This in turn makes one wonder whether it is worth investing in Fugue now when she might as well become obsolete as early as the next version.

Should You Pull for Fugue?

It depends. If you already have a powerful roster of units that benefit from Break Effect and Break DMG, such as Firefly, Boothill, and Rappa, then you might want to invest in Fugue, as she will definitely be an improvement to the team’s damage output and will help you clear MoC stages faster. However, if you do not already have a solid core for Break Teams, this means missing a Break Effect DPS, and maybe having a Ruan Mei or Lingsha, then you might want to hold off on pulling for Fugue as of right now. While she is strong, she is mostly useless outside of Break teams, and with the meta about to shift, we likely won’t be seeing a lot of new Break Effect DPS units coming in the near future. As such, your best bet will be to wait for reruns, but considering you might also be tempted to pull for the new characters, it will certainly be a tough decision to make.

As such, the answer to the question of whether you should pull for Fugue or not is quite simple.

Do you have a solid Break Team core?

  • Yes > PULL
  • No > Don’t PULL

I, for one, will be holding off on pulling for Fugue and waiting for the future summon characters and getting myself a few Remembrance units for my roster.
