Synapse is one of the most major pieces of lore for the Tyranids in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, and it's essentially what keeps the swarm controlled through the Hive Mind.

Tyranids are highly dependent on this connection, and when they lose touch with the Hive Mind, they will die immediately. In this guide, we'll tell you how to break Synapse and gain tactical advantage in Space Marine 2.

When smaller enemies lose connection to the Hive Mind, their heads explode on the spot. Once they die, you'll witness the green particle effect. Enemies that have Synapse move in large groups, and those who are in smaller formations are aggressive and don't follow the connection rules.

Larger clusters of Tyranid Warriors serve as Synaptic links to the Hive for the smaller monsters around them. When you see a lot of Tyranids close together, those who survive will keep the others alive as long as they can reach them. To defeat these swarms, focus on the Synaptic units and kill them as fast as possible.

The most common enemies with Synapse are the Tyranid Warriors, and the good news is that they aren't much bigger than the average Space Marine. However, they aren't the only opponents connected to the Hive Mind, and generally, there are three types that you need to target:

  • Tyranid Warriors
  • Zoanthropes
  • Hive Tyrants

To break Synapse, you need to kill all nearby enemies that possess this connection. You can do that by using melee or ranged weapons, but the latter will have the most benefits. Those who survive your attacks will die around their synaptic link. Have fun and good luck on your next adventure!
