Blizzard

Phase 2 of World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery has been out for a full week, and with a lot of players experimenting with all of the new rune and talent combinations, Blizzard has been monitoring the situation for further balance changes. Just a few days ago, they released a small hotfix that nerfed the Druid class, as they were a bit too strong in PvP.

Today, even more changes have been announced for an upcoming patch that is going to release after maintenance on February 21st. These balance adjustments are targeting the Druid, Shaman, Mage, and Paladin classes, with the Druid continuing to receive small compensation buffs after the previous update. Here is everything you need to know about the February 21st patch for World of Warcraft Season of Discovery.

WoW Season of Discovery February 21 Full Patch Notes

The next big patch for World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is set to launch after the weekly maintenance on February 21st. This update mainly consists of buffs to four different classes, which include the Druid, Shaman, Mage, and Paladin. Druids are receiving a couple of buffs to their Cat Form, with Swipe, Lacerate, and Rip all being substantially improved. Another buff to Starfire is also coming, as the developers feel like they overdid the nerfs in the previous patch.

Enhancement Shamans and Holy Paladins are also receiving some nice quality-of-life changes and buffs, which are surely going to boost their overall effectiveness. Conjure Water from the Mage class is also receiving a quality-of-life change, with it being able to create a full stack of water. Here are all of the changes coming to Season of Discovery on February 21st:

With scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we'll make the following adjustments to a few classes in Season of Discovery.

  • Swipe now scales with attack power, gaining 10% of attack power as damage. Threat caused by Swipe has been greatly increased.
  • The Berserk rune now also causes Lacerate to hit 3 targets.
  • The duration of Rip has been increased to 16 seconds (was 12 seconds).
  • The next Starfire cast after the Starsurge rune ability now has its damage increased to 80% (was 66%).
  • Corrected a bug causing this bonus damage to be lower than intended at level 40.

  • The Dual-Wield Specialization rune now provides 50% bonus damage to your offhand weapon swings.
  • Lava Lash now gains 50% increased damage if Flametongue Weapon is imbued on your offhand.
  • The proc chance of Maelstrom Weapon is now roughly 50% higher when your main hand weapon or your two-hand weapon is imbued with Windfury Weapon.

  • Conjure Water (Rank 5) will now conjure a full stack of 20 with each cast (was 2).

Developers' notes: The tooltip will still indicate that only 2 are conjured. We hope to adjust the tooltip in the future.

That concludes the full list of patch notes for the upcoming World of Warcraft Season of Discovery update that will go live on February 21st. All of the buffs to these classes are going to be a welcome change, as they are definitely underperforming compared to the rest of the roster. Hopefully, even more adjustments come in the next few weeks as there are a few outliers that have still not been mentioned by Blizzard.
